VINICIO CAPOSSELA LIVE – CAGLIARI – ARENA S.ELIA- 8 AUGUST

A distance of just over a year since his last album, “Sailors, Prophets and Whales”, Vinicio Capossela is back with a new album. It’s called “Rebetiko Giymnastas” which came out in all record stores on June 12 for the Cupa, music label founded by Capossela and distributed by Warner. The singer reinterprets rebetika eight songs from his repertoire, plus four new songs.

The rebetiko is a greek traditional genre similar to themes in American blues or Portuguese fado: born as a form of expression of the lowest social strata of the Hellenic society, this kind of music incorporates traditional elements such as other typical Greek Byzantine and Ottoman. Emerged during the nineteenth century, the modern rebetiko Markos had Vamvakaris (born in Ano Syros in 1905 and died in Athens in ’72) its leading exponent.

On the new album Rebetiko Gymnastas Vinicio Capossela then all the charge emerging creative and want to explore traditional music and cultural traditions that have always characterized the work of this true minstrel of Italian music, offering albums marked by a eclectic and strong streak of great cultural importance.

Vinicio Capossela will tour to Cagliari on Wednesday August 8 at the Arena St. Elijah.
