Uno Sguardo Normale Expo – Sardinia Queer Short Film Festival 2013 è un evento cinematografico dedicato a cortometraggi a tematica gay, lesbica, transgender e queer, promosso dall’Associazione Culturale ARC di Cagliari, dal Circolo del Cinema ARCinema, membro della F.I.C.C. – Federazione Italiana dei Circoli del Cinema e dall’Associazione Studentesca universitARC, con i contributi della Fondazione Sardegna Film Commission e dell’E.R.S.U. – Ente Regionale per il diritto allo Studio Universitario, con il patrocinio del Comune di Cagliari e grazie al sostegno della Società Umanitaria – Cineteca Sarda di Cagliari, della F.I.C.C. nazionale e sarda, della Circola nel Cinema “Alice Guy”, del Gruppo 128 di Amnesty International, della L.I.L.A. Sardegna – Lega Italiana per la Lotta all’AIDS, e con la partnership dei Festival “Some Prefer Cake” e “Divergenti” di Bologna e “Sicilia Queer Short Film Festival”.

Eccezionalmente, quest’anno USN|expo è gemellato al Bok-o-Bok (Side-by-Side) LGBT Film Festival di San Pietroburgo: un gemellaggio dall’altissimo valore politico, in un momento storico in cui leggi liberticide e totalitarie stanno riportando la Russia a un passato oscurantista, in cui norme dettate da una esplicita omofobia di stato mettono a rischio la vita delle persone gay, lesbiche e transessuali. Lo stesso Bok-o-Bok, che si terrà esattamente in contemporanea con USN|expo e con il quale ci si collegherà via web in apertura e in chiusura, rischia pesanti sanzioni per il solo fatto di svolgersi, in aperta sfida alle leggi omofobiche di Vladimir Putin.

USN|expo 2013 quest’anno, oltre che sulla Russia, concentrerà la sua attenzione su altre due grandi tematiche sociopolitiche: la situazione dell’omosessualità in Africa e la violenza sulle donne. Per questo, grazie alle curatrici Valentina Lai e Emanuela Falqui, durante tutta la rassegna sarà possibile visitare una selezione di fotografie di Zanele Muholi, artista sudafricana, donate all’ARC e alla Circola nel Cinema “Alice Guy” in conclusione della Queeresima 2013. Sarà inoltre presentato il libro Storie nascoste. Inchiesta sull’omosessualità in Africadi Sabrina Avarian e proiettato il documentario sull’Uganda Call me Kuchu (giovedì 28 novembre).

Sabato 30, invece, ARC avrà il piacere di ospitare Vladimir Luxuria ePorpora Marcasciano, presidente del M.I.T. – Movimento Identità Transessuale e della Giuria del Festival, per un incontro con il pubblico sul tema della violenza sulle donne, durante il quale sarà presentato anche il trailer del nuovo lavoro del regista Giovanni Coda La donna di carta. Domenica 1 dicembre, infine, in apertura della serata delle premiazioni finali, sarà proposto il cortometraggio animato di Peter Marcias Il mondo sopra la testa, in cui il cortocircuito tra stato e società civile sulla questione omosessuale viene rappresentato fino alle sue estreme conseguenze.

Con questo lungo evento l’ARC si propone, ancor più quest’anno, di sensibilizzare la società, attraverso l’universale mezzo di comunicazione del cinema, sui temi delle naturali differenze di orientamento sessuale e di identità di genere, e sulla necessità di raggiungere equivalenti diritti civili per tutti e tutte. Inoltre, attraverso il Festival, l’ARC persegue l’obiettivo di valorizzare e promuovere le produzioni cinematografiche, anche piccole e piccolissime, dedicate a questo tema; favorire il confronto e lo scambio culturale tra le produzioni di paesi diversi; consolidare la rete di collaborazioni tra associazioni, circoli del cinema, movimenti e realtà culturali della città e della Sardegna; offrire a Cagliari la possibilità di conoscere e discutere (secondo il principio del diritto del pubblico alla risposta) un mondo cinematografico per lo più inesplorato.

Per tutti questi motivi, inoltre, USN|expo aderisce al calendario delle iniziative previste nel Mese dei Diritti Umani organizzato e coordinato dal comitato “Stop OPG”.

Regolamento e programma delle preselezioni per il Premio del Pubblico

Nelle serate di giovedì 21 e venerdì 22 novembre 2013, presso il Cineteatro “Nanni Loy” – Casa dello Studente E.R.S.U. (via Trentino – Cagliari), il Circolo del Cinema ARCinema e l’associazione studentescauniversitARC organizzano due maratone durante le quali verranno proiettati tutti i cortometraggi in concorso per questa seconda edizione del Festival, come fase di preselezione per il Premio del Pubblico.

Le proiezioni saranno libere e gratuite per tutte e tutti, ma si riterranno valide/i votanti solo coloro che si presenteranno a entrambe le serate e potranno quindi visionare tutti i cortometraggi regolarmente in gara.

Questa regola è necessaria al fine di rendere la valutazione del pubblico massimamente democratica, articolata e corretta. I primi sei cortometraggi classificati (considerando entrambe le serate di preselezione), verranno proiettati, uno per serata, durante le prime sei giornate del Festival, da lunedì 25 a sabato 30 novembre, alle ore 20.30, per la tranche finale della selezione del pubblico.

Di seguito il programma delle due serate di preselezione, suddivise in tre blocchi a serata. La registrazione dei partecipanti intenzionati a seguire come giurati le due serate si effettuerà tra le ore 19 e le ore 19.45.

[Attenzione: quest’anno l’arrivo di cortometraggi stranieri ha largamente superato quello di corti italiani, il che comporta la massiccia presenza di opere in concorso sottotitolate in inglese].

Tutte le proiezioni, le presentazioni e gli incontri dal 25 al 30 novembre si terranno presso il CineteatroNanni Loy – ERSU (via Trentino – Cagliari), saranno libere e gratuite per tutte e tutti (con tessera ARCinema-F.I.C.C. 2013). La serata delle premiazioni si terrà invece presso i locali del Cineworld (viale Monastir 128 – Cagliari), con ingresso libero e gratuito fino a esaurimento posti.

Exceptionally , this year USN | expo is twinned with the o- Bok – Bok ( Side-by -Side) LGBT Film Festival in St. Petersburg: a twinning by the very high political value , at a time in history when laws against freedom and totalitarian are reporting Russia to an obscurantist past , in which the norms dictated by an explicit homophobia was put at risk the lives of gay, lesbian and transgender people. The same -o- Bok Bok , which will take exactly the same time USN | expo and with whom we will connect via web in opening and closing , risks heavy penalties for the mere fact of taking place , in open defiance of the laws of homophobic Vladimir Putin.

USN | 2013 expo this year , as well as on Russia, will focus on two other major socio-political issues : the situation of homosexuality in Africa and violence against women. For this , thanks to the curators Valentina Lai and Emanuela Falqui , during the whole exhibition you can visit a selection of photographs by Zanele Muholi , South African artist , donated to the ARC and circulates in the Cinema ” Alice Guy ” at the end of the Queeresima 2013. It will also be presented the book Hidden Histories . Investigation on homosexuality in Africadi Sabrina Avarian and screening of the documentary on Uganda Call Me Kuchu (Thursday November 28) .

Saturday 30 , however, ARC will have the pleasure to host Vladimir Luxuria ePorpora Marcasciano , president of MIT – Transsexual Identity Movement and the Jury of the Festival , for a meeting with the public on the issue of violence against women, which will also be presented during the trailer for the new job of director John Coda The woman of paper. Sunday, December 1 , finally, in the evening’s opening of the final awards ceremony , will be proposed to the animated short film by Peter Marcias The world above his head, the short circuit between the state and civil society on the homosexual issue is represented to its extreme consequences.

This event along with the ARC aims , even more this year, raise awareness in society , through the universal medium of communication in the cinema, on the topics of natural differences in sexual orientation and gender identity , and the need to achieve equal civil rights for all and all. In addition, through the Festival , ARC aims to enhance and promote the film productions , including small and small , dedicated to this theme ; foster dialogue and cultural exchange between the productions of different countries , and strengthen the network of collaborations between associations, film clubs , movements and cultural realities of the city and of Sardinia , Cagliari offer the opportunity to learn and discuss (according to the principle of the right of the public to answer) a cinematic world mostly unexplored.

Regulation and program presets for the Audience Award

In the evening of Thursday 21 and Friday, November 22, 2013 , at the IMAX ” Nanni Loy ” – Student House ERSU (via Trentino – Cagliari ) , the Circle Cinema ARCinema and the association studentescauniversitARC organizing two marathons during which all the short films will be screened in competition for this second edition of the Festival, as the pre-selection for the Audience Award .

The screenings will be free and free for all and all, but you will survive / voters only those that will present themselves both evenings and can then view all the short films regularly in the race.

This rule is necessary in order to make the assessment of the public maximally democratic , articulated and correct . The first six short films classified (considering both evenings the pre-selection ) , will be screened , one for the evening, during the first six days of the Festival , from Monday 25 to Saturday, November 30 , at 20.30, for the selection of the final tranche of the public.

Here is the schedule of the two evenings the pre-selection , divided into three blocks in the evening. The registration of participants willing to follow as jurors the two evenings will take place between the hours of 19 and 19.45 .

20.30 : screening of the short film sixth in the final Audience Award 2013;

21 hours : screening of the feature film premiered to Sardinia Facing Mirrors ( Negar Azarbayjani – Iran / Germany – 2012 102 ‘ – subt . eng . ) and discussion ;

23.30 : Ciak … he turns 2 feast of self-financing of the ARC !

17 hours: closing of the Festival, with the screening of the animated short film The world over the head of Peter Marcias , the connection with Bok Bok -o- LGBT Festival in St. Petersburg, the intervention of the LILA on the occasion of the World Day to Combat AIDS and with the delivery of Special Awards , Audience Award (€ 500 ) and the Jury Prize for Best Short Film , 2013 ( € 2,000 ), followed by a final small buffet offered by the sponsors of USN | expo .

All screenings , presentations and meetings November 25 to 30 will be held at the CineteatroNanni Loy – ERSU (via Trentino – Cagliari ) , will be free and free for all and everyone (with pass ARCinema FICC – 2013). The evening of the awards will be held instead at the premises of Cineworld (Viale Monastir 128 – Cagliari ) , with free entry subject to availability .
