Il 19 agosto 2013, presso l’Area Fenicia di Sant’Antioco, alle ore 20:00, si svolgerà l’undicesima tappa del viaggio itinerante del musicista Enzo Favata e della sua comitiva jazz per i tramonti della Sardegna.

Dopo aver toccato le coste di Badesi il 7 agosto, Calasetta l’8 agosto, l’Isola dell’Asinara il 9 agosto, Muravera l’11 agosto, Mogoro il 12 agosto, Alghero dal 13 al 15 agosto, Caprera il 16 agosto, Bosa il 18 agosto, il 19 agosto si potrà assistere al live “Tramonto sull’arena fenicia” con Enzo Favata (sassofoni), Marcello Peghin (chitarre), U.T. Gandhi (percussioni).

L’Isola di Sant’Antioco (Santu Antiogu in sardo, San Antiòcco in tabarchino) è la maggiore delle isole sarde e con i suoi 109 km² è la quarta d’Italia per estensione dopo Sicilia, Sardegna e l’Isola d’Elba; è abitata da circa 12.000 abitanti. Dista da Cagliari 84 km circa ed è collegata all’isola madre grazie a un istmo artificiale. Il territorio dell’isola è diviso fra il comune di Sant’Antioco, il più popoloso (che sorge sulle rovine dell’antica città fenicio-punica di Sulky) e quello di Calasetta, secondo centro abitato, per numero di abitanti, dell’isola. Sono inoltre presenti il piccolo borgo turistico di Maladroxia, che fa capo a Sant’Antioco, e quello di Cussorgia (zona Stann’e Cirdu) nel territorio del comune di Calasetta. Al largo dell’isola, in direzione sud, sono apprezzabili due isolotti, disabitati, detti Il Toro e La Vacca.

Enzo Favata – Musicista apprezzato sulla scena del jazz internazionale come sassofonista, è anche compositore ed autore di musiche originali per il cinema, la radio, il teatro, la documentaristica. I suoi progetti musicali, caratterizzati da un originale intreccio tra musiche popolari e avanguardia, sono stati ospitati in numerosi festival e palcoscenici prestigiosi, in Italia e all’estero. Favata ha suonato e registrato dischi con Dino Saluzzi, Enrico Rava, Miroslav Vitous, Lester Bowie, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Metropole Orkest, Dave Liebman, Guinga, Omar Sosa, Django Bates e tanti altri. Ha al suo attivo 15 CD. È inoltre autore di “paesaggi sonori” per musei ed esposizioni e direttore artistico del Festival Internazionale Musica sulle Bocche.

U. T. Gandhi – Batterista, percussionista e compositore, approda al jazz nel 1978. Ha fatto parte per otto anni del quintetto “Electric Five” di Enrico Rava, con il quale ha svolto concerti e tournée in Italia, Europa, Canada e Giappone. Incide per l’etichetta tedesca ECM con vari progetti. Collabora come compositore per colonne sonore e video nell’ambito teatrale. Ha inciso diversi dischi a suo nome, tra i quali alcuni dedicati ai Weather Report.

Marcello Peghin. Chitarrista e compositore, si muove a suo agio sia nella musica colta che in quella improvvisata. Suona la chitarra classica a 10 e 12 corde, la chitarra baritono, la viola caipira, la chitarra elettrica e i live electronics. Ha suonato con musicisti di diversa estrazione e di grande caratura come Dino Saluzzi, Enrico Rava, Tony Scott, Lester Bowie, Sainko Namtchilak. Ha pubblicato i cd “Variazioni Goldberg” e “Il clavicembalo ben temperato” di J. S. Bach, trascritti per chitarra a 10 corde.

Sono invitati tutti gli amanti del jazz e della natura, non ci sarà alcun biglietto d’ingresso, ma ci sarà la possibilità di navigare fra le onde di una musica un po’ particolare ed avanguardistica mentre il Sole si colore di rosa ed arancio.

Enzo Favata – Musician appreciated on the international jazz scene as a saxophonist, composer and is also author of original music for film, radio, theater, documentary. His musical projects, characterized by an original mix between popular music and avant-garde, were housed in many prestigious venues and festivals in Italy and abroad. Favata has performed and recorded discs with Dino Saluzzi, Enrico Rava, Miroslav Vitous, Lester Bowie, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Metropole Orkest, Dave Liebman, Guinga, Omar Sosa, Django Bates and many others. He has 15 CDs. He is the author of “soundscapes” for museums and exhibitions and artistic director of the International Music Festival of the Straits.

U. T. Gandhi – Drummer, percussionist and composer, he moved to jazz in 1978. He was a member for eight years the quintet “Electric Five” by Enrico Rava, with whom he has played concerts and tours in Italy, Europe, Canada and Japan. He recorded for the German label ECM with various projects. He works as a composer for soundtracks and video in the theater. He has recorded several albums under his own name, including some dedicated to Weather Report.

Marcello Peghin. Guitarist and composer, moves equally at home in classical music than in the improvised. He plays classical guitar at 10 and 12-string guitar, baritone guitar, viola caipira, electric guitar and live electronics. He has played with musicians from diverse backgrounds and high-caliber as Dino Saluzzi, Enrico Rava, Tony Scott, Lester Bowie, Sainko Namtchilak. He published the so-called “Goldberg Variations” and “The Well-Tempered Clavier” by J. S. Bach, transcribed for guitar 10-string.

They invited all jazz lovers and nature, there will be no entrance fee, but there will be the opportunity to surf the waves of music a bit ‘special and avant-garde as the Sun rose and orange color.
