TOURNAMENT FIGHT SARDA SA STRUMPA – VILLAGRANDE STRISAILI – THURSDAY AUGUST 9

It ‘s definitely one of the oldest sports Sardinians, where today as in ancient times does not count as physical strength, because “he knows Trassa”, the ability of any single competitor. “He knows strumpa” as each year will be the star of the international tournament “Juntos”, now in its seventh edition. A challenge in the picturesque square “Sennorigau” Villagrande will be athletes from around the world: Scotland, Brazil, Iceland, Breton, Senegalese, British, Spanish and, of course, Sardinians.

The event is scheduled for Aug. 9 at 18 and to open the fair, the folk group of San Gabriel and the choir Villagrande Ogliastra-friendship. Then will begin the competition, under the eyes of a special guest: Vincenzo Maenza Plural, plurimedagliato Olympic and former world champion fighting greek-Roman. The “gherradores” will be divided into three classes: Senior (over 18 years), Junior (15-18 years) and Beginners (12-15 years), all divided by weight category.

Between races and the next there will also be space for demonstrations of traditional struggles of other cultures such as the Senegalese drink, the lucha Spanish, Brazilian capoeira, hold back the Scottish, the Breton gouren GLIMA and Icelandic.

During the show, will host the XVI Festival of “is Gathulis”, the characteristic rings of potato fried in hot oil and cheese, accompanied by a glass of Cannonau Tortolì.
