Hanno vissuto i quartieri di Is Mirrionis e San Michele nell’intimo per quasi due mesi.
Hanno incontrato le persone, scoperto i luoghi, ascoltato le storie. Dalle loro residenze d’artista ora nasce la mostra fotografica.

Eureca! è un progetto di residenza d’artista e arte pubblica partecipata che racconta la città, i suoi abitanti, le memorie e gli angoli più affascinanti e significativi attraverso il coro delle piccole storie quotidiane, delle persone e dei luoghi di Is Mirrionis e San Michele.

Eureca! ha coinvolto la città tra il 26 marzo e il 5 maggio 2014 con due esperienze parallele: la residenza artistica di George Georgiu e Vanessa Winship, fotografi inglesi di fama internazionale, e i laboratori gratuiti audio, video e foto per i cittadini.

The Artists Presence è la parte del progetto che ha portato in città George Georgiu e Vanessa Winship, in due residenze artistiche dedicate alle zone di Is Mirrionis e San Michele. Georgiu e Winship, da anni impegnati in reportage da tutto il mondo, si sono impegnati per catturare il fascino e le contraddizioni dei due quartieri, realizzando una serie di scatti che saranno esposti  in una mostra conclusiva presso la Galleria Comunale d’Arte Contemporanea e che andranno a far parte del patrimonio artistico della città.

La mostra fa parte del progetto di arte pubblica dei Musei Civici EureCa, inserito fra le iniziative per la candidatura di Cagliari a Capitale Europea della Cultura 2019.

This Is Mirrionis rappresenta un passo importante del processo di candidatura che mira a una città policentrica nella quale tutte le parti dialogano e comunicano attraverso i personaggi della cultura e dell’arte.

They met the people, the places discovered, listened to the stories. From their artist residencies now comes the photo exhibition.

Eureca! is a project of artist residency and participatory public art that tells the city, its inhabitants, the memories and the fascinating and meaningful through the chorus of small everyday stories, people and places of Is Mirrionis and St. Michael.

Eureca! involved the city between March 26 and May 5, 2014 with two parallel experiences: the artist residency Georgiu George and Vanessa Winship, British photographers of international fame, and workshops, free audio, video and photos for citizens.

The Artists Presence is part of the project that led to the city Georgiu George and Vanessa Winship, two artistic residencies dedicated to the areas of Is Mirrionis and St. Michael. Georgiu and Winship, engaged for years in reports from around the world have pledged to capture the charm and contradictions of the two districts, making a series of shots that will be showcased in a final exhibition at the Galleria Comunale d’Arte Contemporanea and will be part of the artistic heritage of the city.

The exhibition is part of the public art project of the Civic Museums EURECA, inserted between the initiatives for the candidacy of Cagliari in the European Capital of Culture 2019.

This Is Mirrionis is an important step in the application process that aims at a polycentric city, in which all parts interact and communicate through the characters of culture and art.
