His BIO
Italian artist, transcendent mythology, refined esthete and current lover of antiquity, was born in Cagliari on 8 December 1978.
After graduating gained with studies at the Art School in his hometown, he trasfersce in Florence, where he attended the course of Stage Design at the Academy of Fine Arts, taught by Professor Massimo Mattioli and Production Designer.
Through the course of Stage Design, the Academy of Fine Arts and cultural centers, exposes some of his works.
Together with Professor Tullio Zitkowsky, production designer historical importance of Rai, for the first time, went in the laboratories of Cinecittà in Rome on which he wrote his dissertation.
Tuscan adventure ended, he returned to Cagliari, where for the first time in contact with the professional world of theater, collaborating with the management of stage of the Lyric Theatre Foundation of Cagliari.
Then follows a master’s degree in theater design through the project Techne, held at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Benevento, at the direction of stage of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, and Rome, attending for the second time in the laboratories of Cinecittà and for the first time Laboratory dramatic scene in Europe Morley (RO)
At the end of the experience “Techne” in 27 years, is back in Sardinia, where he teaches art, design and art history at the State High Schools of Cagliari.
He attended the cultural association “Fourth Josso” in Quarryville (CA), creating the terracotta reliefs preserved in the Archives of the town of Clay Segariu (VS), a member of the Territorial Museum “Sa Corona Arrubia”.
In those years he worked at Cagliari as graphic designer, photographer, interior designer and worked as set designer Giugnini and Associates for the construction of an advertisement of Myrtle Rau.
Today, the artist creates his works in his studio in Cagliari with the aim of showcasing their ideologies.
The artistic philosophy of Marcus Sionis.
In his work compares the situations documented and handed down from antiquity to the present circumstances, revealing endless similarities of past and present, highlighting contrasts and reinventing ancient meanings are often forgotten over time.
His kind is one of the ancient and the contemporary post-giving birth to a sort of post-classicism, highlighted by the management of themes and subjects in his works through a new point of view.
In his work there is a constant search for beauty and compositional balance, rooted in a thorough report on socio-cultural meanings, both expressed by current techniques containing strong inspirations, resulting from the study represented a variety of world famous art and their methodologies of approaching works of art, made famous through the materials and colors.
Marco makes his Sionis have learned through the study of art, through these experiences in the different branches of visual art, opens a new road full of meanings and it crosses the path with originality, equipped with its cultural baggage.
