Serata conclusiva domani al festival Ai Confini Tra Sardegna e Jazz.
La chiusura della manifestazione è stata affidata alla Sun Ra Arkestra, che ha accompagnato il maestro “Sunny” Blount.
La sua morte nel 1993 ha lasciato un vuoto gigantesco ma al tempo stesso ha creato un’infinità di strade parallele
percorse da musicisti di ogni genere.
L’Arkestra nel corso degli anni ha sempre cambiato formazione ma è rimasta stabile la partecipazione del suo
sacerdote più importante, ovvero lo storico sassofonista, Marshall Allen, oggi unico depositario delle volontà di Sun Ra.
L’Arkestra composta da 11 elementi offrirà uno spettacolo incredibile composto da musica, teatro e danza. Una
sorta di rito collettivo che vuole rievocare lo spirito sempre presente del compositore dell’Alabama.
Il concerto, appunto, sarà un omaggio ed un ritorno che possa richiamare alla memoria la fiammeggiante esibizione
che l’Arkestra insieme a Sun Ra tennero su questo stesso palco nel 1989.
Sarà, quindi, come aprire un varco spazio temporale capace di congiungere il cielo con la terra e regalare agli
spettatori le stesse emozioni travolgenti che vissero ormai 24 anni fa.

Sun Ra è stato un compositore jazz, bandleader, suonava piano e sintetizzatore, poeta e filosofo noto
per la sua “filosofia cosmica”, per le composizioni musicali, e le performance dal vivo. Rae’ stato una delle
figure più importanti nella avanuardia degli anni ’60 jazz insieme ad artisti quali Ornette Coleman, John
Coltrane e Albert Ayler. “Di tutti i musicisti di jazz, Sun Ra è stato probabilmente il più controverso,” critico
