STELLA MARIS 2012 – ARBATAX -20 TO 22 JULY

From July 20 to 22 Arbatax renews the appointment with the festivities in honor of Our Lady Stella Maris.

Three days of faith, events and performances will enliven the evenings of residents and tourists. The highlight of the festivities will be reached during the day Sunday, July 22.

The events will start from the morning, at 10 am when the race will begin swimming in the waters off the beach “The Shed”.

Later, at 10.30 am Mass will be celebrated in the church of Stella Maris. In the evening the festivities reach a climax: will begin at 18.30 the procession through the streets of the coastal village, with the statue of the Virgin accompanied by folk groups Ogliastra, Lanusei, Tertenia St. Sophia, St. Just and St. Anne Tortolì.

The ceremony will be accompanied by the evolution of the flag of the City of Sassari and the notes of banda music Muravera. At 19, the procession will stop at the east pier, where the Mass will be officiated.

At the end of the function, at 20, will stage the most scenic part of the celebration: the statue of the Madonna is carried on a vessel selected and prepared for the occasion and begin the procession at sea, with the participation of any boat , from the smallest to largest. The procession will start, then, led by the ship carrying the statue of the Madonna, to the traditional three rounds in the harbor. The ceremony will end, as always, with the launch of the wreath from the Harbour patrol boat in memory of the fallen overboard.

In the evening, from 21.30 at the fishing center, will perform folk groups who attended the mass. To conclude the festivities will be the traditional fireworks display at midnight.

Several side events will accompany the party on Sunday.
Friday, July 20 at the center of Arbatax fishing, starting at 20:30 there will be a feast of mussels and the Latin-American master’s Hansel Melgares.
The next day at the center of Arbatax cesca replicates, this time with the feast of fried fish, always starting from 20.30. The distribution of fish will be accompanied by the show “The Odd Couple show” Manuela guests Dessì Tenorenis, Barritas Duo (Guido In Coconut and Coconut), the Maximum Vasco (Vasco Rossi tribute) and Foots Clan crew (hip-hop show).
In addition, 15 to 29 July, will be open to the public every night the photo exhibition and handicraft “The Fourteenth Network – Artisans of the Sea” is fitted within the premises of the Tower of San Miguel Arbatax.
