Tra le tante manifestazioni di questo lungo weekend, ce n’è una particolare nel Medio Campidano: si festeggia infatti il Seicentenario del Marchesato di Sorres a Villasor, il 31 maggio e il 1 giugno 2014.

La storia racconta che il Comune di Villasor è sorto nel 1414, sulle rovine dell’ormai quasi spopolato centro di Sorres, quando l’arcivescovo di Cagliari Pietro Spinola concesse la zona in feudo al catalano Giovanni Sinelleris, o Sivilleri, (doganiere del castello di Cagliari e procuratore reale) con lo scopo di ripopolare l’area, teatro di oltre cinquant’anni di lotte tra gli Aragona e gli Arborea, mediante la costruzione di una fortezza sulle rovine della vecchia chiesa parrocchiale, al fine di difenderla dalle incursioni dei ribelli arborensi e dai banditi barbaricini. Da quel momento il villaggio di Sorres divenne un punto di attrazione per gli abitanti degli altri villaggi della zona, tanto da ingrandirsi progressivamente e divenire il capoluogo della Curatoria, sino a quando, il 30 settembre 1537, questa divenne Contea (il 1° conte fu Giacomo Alagon, figlio di Isabella Besora, nipote di Giovanni Sivilleri, e Salvatore Alagon). Il 19 novembre 1594 la Contea fu poi elevata a Marchesato dal re spagnolo Filippo II a favore di Giacomo Alagon, nipote del 1° conte. La famiglia Alagon, una delle più importanti ed illustri della Sardegna ed una delle più antiche d’Europa (pare discendesse dai primi re di Francia), mantenne il marchesato di Villasor fino all’abolizione del feudo nel 1839. L’ultimo possessore fu Gabriele de Sylva, figlio di Giuseppe Francesco, nipote di Emanuela Alagon e Giuseppe de Sylva, sposatisi nel 1704 durante l’occupazione austriaca.

The story goes that the City of Villasor was born in 1414 on the ruins of the now almost depopulated center of Sorres , when the archbishop of Cagliari Pietro Spinola granted a fief in the area to Catalan John Sinelleris , or Sivilleri ( customs officer Castle Cagliari attorney and real ) in order to repopulate the area , the scene of more than fifty years of struggle between Arborea and Aragon , through the construction of a fortress on the ruins of the old parish church , in order to defend it from the incursions of rebels Arborea and barbaricini by bandits . castle
Since then, the village of Sorres became a point of attraction for the inhabitants of other villages in the area , so as to gradually grow and become the capital of Curatoria , until, September 30, 1537 , this became County ( 1 count was Alagon James , the son of Isabella Besora , grandson of John Sivilleri , and Salvatore Alagon ) . On November 19, 1594 the County was later elevated to the Marquis by the Spanish King Philip II in favor of James Alagon , grandson of the 1st Earl . The family Alagon , one of the most important and famous of Sardinia and one of the oldest in Europe (apparently descended from the first King of France ) , kept the Marquis of Villasor until the abolition of the estate in 1839. The last owner was Gabriele de Sylva, son of Joseph Francis, nephew of Emanuela de Sylva and Joseph Alagon , who were married in 1704 during the Austrian occupation .
