SAN SALVATORE E LA CORSA DEGLI SCALZI – CABRAS – 30 AGOSTO – 1 SETTEMBRE 2013SAN SALVATORE AND THE RACE OF THE SCALZI – CABRAS – AUGUST 30 – SEPTEMBER 1

Ogni anno nella prima domenica di settembre ricorre la festa di San Salvatore. Centinaia di fedeli di Cabras, nel sabato che precede la prima domenica di settembre  accorrono per portare il Simulacro di San Salvatore in processione di corsa inneggiando il Suo Nome, indossando rigorosamente un saio bianco  e scalzi,  attraversando di corsa i sentieri sterrati del Sinis, nel villaggio di San salvatore, dove vengono celebrati i festeggiamenti del Santissimo,  per poi riaccompagnarlo il giorno seguente nella Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta. Centinaia di uomini, ragazzi, bambini… l’esercito del Salvatore che in un unica bandiera tra il sudore e la fatica calpesta l’asfalto, bollente e ispido, e il sentiero sterrato alzando un polverone che spazza via la discordia, percorre la via del sacrificio per gettarsi tra le braccia della fede.

Un folto gruppo di giovani a piedi nudi e vestiti con il saio bianco dei penitenti trasporta il Santo in spalla attraverso i sentieri, circondati dalle stoppie e dai pascoli, di corsa per 12 chilometri.
Questa manifestazione risale presumibilmente al 1619 e simula il salvataggio della statua, conservata nella chiesetta, dall’invasione dei mori.

Il percorso attraverso la quale is curridoris accompagnano il Santo Salvatore in processione, di corsa, inneggiando il suo Nome con grida di gioia, è lungo circa 7 km.
Ogni “curridore” prepara la vigilia con trepidazione e ansia. Il tardo pomeriggio la confessione e successivamente, al tramonto del sole la riunione con tutti i gruppi in chiesa dove si prega insieme, accompagnati dal parroco; sempre in chiesa poi  viene fatta l’estrazione delle “muda” che consentiranno a i piu fortunati di “tirar fuori” da cabras  il Santissimo e condurlo  a San salvatore il sabato mattina; il giorno dopo, la domenica sera,  l’inverso.

Sa muda è composta da cinque curridoris appartenenti a un determinato gruppo che ha il compito di trasportare il simulacro del Santissimo e la Bandiera durante la processione in corsa. I gruppi sono 14 , ciascuno di  circa 13-“muda”. I primi sette gruppi trasporteranno seguendo un ordine numerico, il Simulacro il sabato mattina da Cabras a San Salvatore, gli altri, la domenica da San Salvatore a Cabras,  che coincide con la fine della festività.Every year on the first Sunday of September, the feast of San Salvatore.
