Domenica 9 dicembre il cartellone di Rocce Rosse&Blues Winter’s Edition propone al Teatro Verdi di Sassari (unica data in Sardegna) un viaggio straordinario nel barocco di Michel Godard, uno dei suonatori di tuba e serpente più notevoli d’Europa, dedicato al grande compositore Claudio Monteverdi. Ma, come ogni vero musicista jazz, Godard, o semplicemente Monsieur Tuba, il cui straordinario virtuosismo lo rende unico nel mondo della musica europea sia classica e jazz, usa il lavoro del grande compositore cremonese solo come fonte di ispirazione per poi dargli un tocco nuovo e contemporaneo. Egli è abilmente sostenuto in questo progetto da un trio barocco composto dal mezzosoprano Guillemette Laurens, da Bruno Helstroffer al theorbo e da William Dongois al cornetto barocco, che completano il progetto insieme allo speciale duo jazz composto dal sassofonista Gavino Murgia, sassofonista jazz tra i più conosciuti e apprezzati nel panorama internazionale e una delle più belle voci di basso della Sardegna, e dallo stesso Michel Godard.

Nel cd “The Trace of Grace” realizzato in Francia lo scorso anno, si aggiunge a questa formazione lo straordinario bassista americano Steve Swallow e la voce e il sax di Gavino Murgia.

Una intesa profonda tra i due musicisti Godard-Murgia con una certa affinità con il “suono primordiale del sud”. Un imperdibile viaggio nella storia della musica occidentale, dal Rinascimento ad oggi tra jazz, improvvisazione e tradizione. “Ho incontrato diversi anni fa Gavino in Sardegna”, ricorda Godard. “È stato grazie a lui che ho scoperto la musica etnica sarda. Ho subito sentito una profonda connessione tra la musica tradizionale della sua bellissima isola e la musica antica francese che suonavo con il mio strumento, il serpentone, lo strumento di legno che della tuba è progenitore diretto. Abbiamo deciso così di avviare un progetto comune. Ma Gavino è anche un sassofonista jazz fantastico. E questo ci ha permesso di produrre un mix completo di tutte le culture che ci hanno influenzato.”

Sunday, December 9th the poster of Red Rocks & Blues Winter’s Edition offers the Teatro Verdi in Sassari (only date in Sardinia) an extraordinary journey through the Baroque Michel Godard, one of the tuba players and snake the most remarkable in Europe, dedicated to the great composer Claudio Monteverdi . But, like any true jazz musician, Godard, or simply Monsieur Tuba, whose extraordinary virtuosity makes it unique in the world of European music both classical and jazz, using the work of the great Cremonese composer only as a source of inspiration for then give a new touch and contemporary. He is ably supported in this project by a trio composed of baroque mezzo-soprano Guillemette Laurens, Bruno Helstroffer the theorbo and baroque William Dongois the cornetto, which complete the project together with a special jazz duo composed by saxophonist Gavino Murgia, jazz saxophonist of the most known and appreciated in the international scene and one of the finest bass voices of Sardinia, and the same Michel Godard.

The CD “The Trace of Grace” made in France last year, is added to this training the extraordinary American bassist Steve Swallow and voice and sax Gavino Murgia.

A deep understanding between the two musicians Godard-Murgia with an affinity for the “primordial sound of the south.” A unique journey through the history of Western music from the Renaissance to today between jazz, improvisation and tradition. “I met several years ago in Sardinia Gavino,” says Godard. “It was thanks to him that I discovered the ethnic music of Sardinia. I immediately felt a deep connection between the traditional music of his beautiful island and the French early music that was playing with my instrument, the snake, the wooden instrument that the tube is direct ancestor. so we decided to start a project. Gavino But it is also a jazz saxophonist fantastic. And this has enabled us to produce a complete mix of all the cultures that have influenced us. “
