On February 9, the return of the Great Events Jazzino with a special meeting between two great guitarists among the most respected in the international jazz scene: Lionel Loueke and Roberto Cecchetto. The tour of the duo, will visit in Cagliari and then set off at a time of major European cities.
Originally from West Africa, Loueke, guitarist and composer, member of the legendary Herbie Hancock touring band, is considered the most representative of African jazz, among the most popular in the studio by the gurus of the jazz world as Wayne Shorter, Marcus Miller, Roy Hargrove, Charlie Haden.
Roberto Cecchetto, eclectic guitarist of the most original European jazz, member of the band “Electric Five” Enrico Rava, is known for his forays into experimentation and for his collaborations with the most important musicians of European jazz (Palle Daniellson, Richard Galliano, Paolo Fresu, Stefano Bollani, Paolino Dalla Porta, Lee Konitz, to name a few).
Two extraordinary musicians of the six-string guitar whose approach and the experience is different, but united by a strong propensity for dialogue, curiosity towards the exploration of musical territories, and by comparison. Their first meeting was so explosive to get them to make the decision to start this new adventure duo. As claimed by the same Cecchetto: “The idea of playing with another guitarist has always fascinated me because it’s like double the harmonic and melodic possibilities of the guitar, and it is very exciting when it happens especially with intense and special musicians like Lionel Loueke with which ‘agreement was only complete from the beginning. “
Lionel Loueke, a native of Benin (West Africa), continues his musical research following in the footsteps of his musical and cultural heritage, carrying, with a unique style and a singular compositional skills and improvisation, jazz in the traditional sounds of West Africa. “I have two legacy,” says Lionel. “One comes from my African ancestors, and that through my music, my body, my soul, every aspect of what I do. But I also have the legacy of the West, from Europe to the United States. I I speak English, French, and I also have the cultural legacy. “
With Roberto Cecchetto, Loueke sees his first project with two guitars.
