La Regata de is Fassonis quest’anno si svolgerà nella laguna di Santa Giusta tra il 29 agosto e 1 settembre 2013

Is Fassonis sono imbarcazioni tradizionali che alcuni studiosi ritengono possano avere addirittura un’origine fenicia o comunque risalente ai tempi in cui i Fenici erano giunti sulle coste sarde. È certo invece che barche molto simili a quelle di S. Giusta sono state rinvenute presso il lago Titicaca in Perù, a testimonianza del loro uso presso le popolazioni precolombiane.

Is fassonis vengono realizzati con fascioni di canne, che crescono in abbondanza sulle sponde dello stagno di Santa Giusta. L’uso tradizionale di queste barche, che vanno spinte con grande perizia con una lunga pertica da parte del barcaiolo che deve rimanere in piedi, era legato alla pesca (soprattutto del muggine), ma naturalmente fungevano anche da comodo mezzo di trasporto sulla laguna. Oggi vengono invece impiegate solo per la regata.

La gara ha luogo al tramonto, quando l’infuocato sole estivo si abbassa sul mare e colora di rosso tutta la laguna, riflettendosi sulle acque calme. Prima della regata vera e propria gareggiano anche i “cius”, imbarcazioni di legno dal fondo piatto, che ancora oggi sono in uso per la pesca negli stagni oristanesi.

Oltre all’avvincente competizione, assai gradevoli sono anche le manifestazioni di contorno, di carattere folcloristico ed eno-gastronomico. In particolar modo, è possibile degustare i genuini prodotti della zona degli stagni, come le anguille ed in genere pesci alla griglia o la corposa vernaccia locale.

In addition to a gripping competition, pleasant features are also manifestations of contour, folkloristic and gastronomic. In particular, you can taste the genuine products of the area of ​​the ponds, such as eels and usually grilled fish or the full-bodied local Vernaccia wine.
