REDENTORE FESTIVAL 2012 – NUORO – 18 TO 26 AUGUST

The Feast of this Redentore is an important religious moment for the city of Nuoro, full of events and initiatives that will take place from Saturday, August 18 until the close of Wednesday, August 29.

The festival, now in its 112 ^ th, remember the pose of the Statue of the Redeemer and the subsequent blessing and consecration of Mount Ortobene, which originated with the Jubilee of 1900, at which Pope Leo XIII wanted them to be placed over 19 peaks in Italy so many images of Jesus the Redeemer.

The event begins precisely on August 18 with a grand parade of the ancient traditional carnival masks from Sardinia, and August 26 is the time of the parade of horsemen in traditional costumes, accompanied by representatives of the Carabinieri.

As per tradition, the event will be the corollary of events such as shows, exhibitions, poetry with wine tastings and guided tours at Mount Ortobene, where the statue of the Redeemer, positioned to protect the city and Sardinia.

The Feast of the Redeemer closes Wednesday, August 29 with the religious pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Santa Maria della Neve at Monte Ortobene, accompanied by the singing of choruses Nuoro.
