The ARC, the Association of GLBT cultural Cagliari, with the support and cooperation of many other associations and individuals, is preparing to launch the Queeresima 2012, a detailed project for a period of forty days, from 17 May (International Day Against Homophobia) to 30 June (the 28th is the day traditionally dedicated to Pride), full of appointments and meetings, including movies, books, comic books, exhibitions, conferences and, above all, two major events: a candlelight vigil in memory of all victims of homophobia, Saturday, May 19, and, to close, the first Pride of Cagliari, Saturday, June 30, 2012! The theme of reflection and analysis, after those addressed in past years by means of several demonstrations against homophobia (physical violence, the various types of homophobia and the homophobia of State), will this time centered on the complex and controversial relationship between homophobia and religion, which is often the vehicle of exclusion, marginalization, stigmatization and, finally, real hatred against gay people, transgender and intersex. For this, the heart of Queeresima will be a moment of reflection and debate, Saturday, June 16 at the Multipurpose Center of the Park of Monte Claro, faced with Don Franco Barbero, the priest left the Church of Rome for its fully open positions for people and homosexual couples, and the National Secretary dell’UAAR – Union of Rationalist Atheists and Agnostics, Raffaele Carcano. But Queeresima also includes the screening of a montage of footage on previous demonstrations against homophobia of Cagliari and Sassari, organized by circulates in Cinema “Alice Guy” FICC, and four films on the history of GLBT movementism, realized thanks to the contributions of ‘ERSU; the presentation of the book “Gay Oasis – Myths & Titans gay and lesbian culture” of Vincenzo Patané, attended the meeting, and the graphic-novel “In Italy they are all males” by Luca De Santis, who was also present ; a scientific conference organized by the Student Collective Redshift on the figure of Alan Turing and homophobia within the scientific community, the exhibition of photographer Laura Marchiori, who has chosen to set the faces of many in the GLBT community and beyond Cagliari, providing a striking view of looks, two theater theme, a theater company of Minstrels, “I was born so,” and another of Ferai Theatre, “PorNoGay”. And then still other initiatives implemented by the Centre for Documentation and Studies of Women, by the cultural MescolArte, by the Young Democrats of Cagliari, not to mention a conference and the great political demonstration against homophobia, transphobia, racism and sexism to be held in Sassari, in June, organized by the Homosexual Movement Sardo. A full agenda, lively and diverse, thought the service that ARC pursues the main objective since its inception ten years ago: the defense of rights and culture of people and communities of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transexual, much more concern a period like that, for some years, you live in Italy, characterized by an increasing number of attacks, theses and behaviors intolerant, racist and homophobic, and the total inability of politics to take over the recognition of rights that almost all other countries of Europe and many in the world have now formalized and institutionalized. Moved by these reflections, ARC invites all individuals and all but the acronyms, and movements, institutions, corporations, unions, associations, political parties, groups, film clubs, musical groups, merchants or any other collective representation, which recognize in this struggle for civil and cultural rights, to join the political manifesto of Queeresima on the official website: www.queeresima.it
Attached are the program of the entire project, not yet completely definitive: all changes will be communicated to both the Association through public channels (websites, facebook, twitter, print, etc..). ARC hopes a good Queeresima Pride and good to all and all! External relations and spokesperson Association ARC Charles Cotza 328-98282353 Francesca Corona 346-1818294
