PROVE DELLA CIVICA BIG BAND !!!

La Civica Big Band è nata nel 2001 nell’ambito del corso di musica d’insieme tenuto da Paolo Carrus presso la Scuola civica di musica, con l’obiettivo di introdurre gli allievi nel mondo della musica moderna attraverso un’esperienza diretta basata sull’orchestra jazz.
Il repertorio della band, costituito da oltre 50 brani, spazia dai classici dello swing di autori come Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, fino a brani di jazz contemporaneo fra cui un programma di colonne sonore cinematografiche.
La testimonianza dei risultati ottenuti ha trovato un riscontro nelle esibizioni pubbliche: dal primo concerto a Cagliari il 25 aprile 2002, la band si è esibita nel quadro di prestigiose rassegne internazionali, fra le quali Cala Gonone Jazz, la rassegna del Palazzo Civico di Cagliari, il Seminario Nuoro jazz, il Festival internazionale Jazz Expò, registrando consensi anche presso la stampa specializzata. Nel 2005 nel corso del prestigioso Festival di S’Anna Arresi la big band ha avuto come ospite il grande musicista Pat Metheny.
La band propone degli appuntamenti periodici per i cultori del jazz del Jambalaya, che potranno assistere alle prove dell’orchestra.

TESTS OF CIVIC BIG BAND!

The Civic Big Band was founded in 2001 during the course of ensemble music by Paolo Carrus held at the Civic School of music, with the aim to introduce students to the world of modern music through direct experience based on ‘jazz orchestra.
The repertoire of the band, made ​​up of over 50 songs, from classic swing of authors such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, up to contemporary jazz songs including a program of film scores.
The testimony of the results has been reflected in public performances: from the first concert in Cagliari April 25, 2002, the band performed as part of prestigious international exhibitions, including Cala Gonone Jazz, the review of the Town Hall of Cagliari, Seminar Nuoro Jazz, Jazz international Festival Expo, recording success also in the specialized press. In 2005, during the prestigious Festival of Sant’Anna Arresi the big band was hosted by the great musician Pat Metheny.
The band offers periodic appointments for lovers of jazz Jambalaya, who will attend the rehearsals of the orchestra.
