Il passato (Le Passé) è un film di genere drammatico della durata di 130 min. diretto da Asghar Farhadi e interpretato da Bérénice Bejo, Tahar Rahim, Ali Mosaffa, Pauline Burlet, Elyes Aguis, Jeanne Jestin, Sabrina Ouazani, Babak Karimi, Valeria Cavalli.
E’ anche noto con il titolo internazionale The Past.

Dopo quattro anni di separazione, Ahmad arriva a Parigi da Teheran su richiesta di Maria, la moglie francese, per espletare le formalità del loro divorzio. Durante il suo breve soggiorno, Ahmad scopre il rapporto conflittuale che Maria ha con sua figlia, Lucia. Gli sforzi Ahmad per cercare di migliorare questo rapporto sveleranno un segreto del passato.
Come già nel precedente Una separazione, anche per quanto riguarda Le passé (ovvero, “il passato”) nel titolo c’è tutto.
E come già in quel film, qui Asghar Farhadi, questa volta con capitali e ambientazione francese, racconta la vita, nella sua complessità e nelle sue contraddizioni.
La vita e il suo procedere discontinuo, pieno di accelerazioni e brusche frenate, di progressioni e involuzioni, proprio per via di quel passato che ci forma, ci condiziona, ci rinforza, ci zavorra e dal quale è così difficile emanciparsi. Questo procedere sincopato e discontinuo, Farhadi lo applica anche a un film che è scritto e girato con una maestria classica, soave e priva di ogni sforzo apparente, in grado di dare la massima impressione di realtà proprio laddove le strutturazioni visive e narrative sono notevoli e complesse, come l’alternarsi di personaggi e vicende.

È grazie a questa capacità, anche, che l’intrecciarsi complesso di vicende intime e familiari che Le passé racconta, scatenate dal ritorno a Parigi di un uomo che deve firmare il divorzio alla ex moglie che ha trovato un nuovo compagno, non sembrano affatto quelle di una soap opera (come forse sarebbe potuto essere con un altro regista dietro la macchina da presa) ma assumono un tasso di realtà e di universalità tale da essere capace di coinvolgere e commuovere.
È proprio questa apparente impeccabilità, forse, a rappresentare l’unico limite del film di Farhadi: la vita, quella che lui racconta, impeccabile non è, e a Le passé manca leggermente, più nella messa in scena che nel contenuto, quella ruvidità imperfetta capace di segnare in maniera ancora più incisiva l’occhio e il cuore di chi guarda.
Ma negli occhi e nel cuore, come altrove, rimangono forti le parole, i gesti, i dettagli: tutti impeccabili e dal peso specifico elevatissimo, capaci di raccontare gli equilibri e gli squilibri dei rapporti tra le persone e di evocare abissi di consapevolezza.

Il mondo della miniera è solito risuonare al maschile. Sentire una voce di donna equivale quasi a una “profanazione”. Patrizia ama la miniera. È sarda e nell’isola “che non è solo mare e turismo” è fiera di essere una minatrice, come suo padre. Lei è ad oggi l’unica minatrice d’Italia. La sua voce accompagna la narrazione di un bel momento dell’8° festival internazionale del film di Roma, quello del documentario Dal profondo, diretto da un’altra mano femminile, la brindisina Valentina Zucco Pedicini.

Un lavoro poetico e importante, encomiabile anche per la difficoltà intrinseca a spazi e tempi di ripresa. “Quello della miniera è un mondo capovolto: lì non valgono le stesse regole del di sopra, tutto cambia, il respiro, i suoni, i colori e l’umanità”. Colpisce l’amore che i lavoratori della miniera Carbosulcis Srl provano per il loro “ambiente naturale” a 500 metri di profondità: spesso sono figli d’arte, verrebbe da dire, avendo ereditato da padri e nonni questa professione antica e ancestrale come poche altre. Un viaggio al centro della terra in senso letterale e metaforico, un percorso che non esclude la lotta tenace dei 150 minatori – i soldati del sottosuolo – contro la chiusura della loro casa, la miniera di carbone frutto di tante polemiche essendo ormai passati 10 anni dall’ultima sua vendita di carbone estratto. Nel novembre 2012 l’hanno occupata per 8 giorni, poi sono riusciti a ottenere una sospensione (o rinvio…) del provvedimento di chiusura.

Patrizia sembra un’opera d’arte forgiata da uno scultore sardo: gli occhi azzurri a illuminare il volto scavato e spesso annerito di carbone, il fisico minuto ma granitico circondato da braccia muscolose. È fibra umana allo stato puro. Ricorda suo padre, quando le spiegava il senso della miniera. Un senso che ha trasmesso al figlio 25enne, che tuttavia comprende i rischi e forse oggi l’inutilità di impiegare risorse “di salute” a tali profondità: “Ho 25 anni, posso ancora cambiare, e la sera sappiamo bene cosa ci esce dal naso… tanto poi la chiuderanno, non ne vale più la pena”.
Valentina Zucco Pedicini ha lavorato “in profondità” in ogni senso, rimanendo 26 giorni nel sottosuolo ottenuti dopo 2 anni di richieste per un “accesso esclusivo” con il quale ha portato ogni giorno “su e giù i dolly”. Un’impresa che ne è valsa un documentario di rara intensità.

Il paradiso degli orchi inizia presentandoci Benjamin e il suo strano lavoro da “capro espiatorio”: un uomo pagato per prendersi la responsabilità di qualunque guasto di qualunque oggetto venduto ai Grandi Magazzini. Proprio dopo l’ultimo reclamo, nei Grandi Magazzini scoppia una bomba: un boato, delle urla, poi il silenzio. Una sola vittima: un uomo dilaniato, ritrovato con la patta aperta. Ma indovina chi sarà il primo e unico sospettato? Benjamin Malaussène, naturalmente. Inutile dire che per Ben inizierà un’avventura fatta di equivoci e malintesi in cui dovrà provare la sua innocenza contro tutte le apparenze. Alla fine, però, la famiglia Malaussène troverà anche una mamma.

After four years of separation , Ahmad arrived in Paris from Tehran at the request of Mary, his French wife , to complete the formalities of their divorce . During his short stay, Ahmad discovers that Mary has the conflictual relationship with his daughter, Lucia. Ahmad ‘s efforts to try to improve this report reveal a secret of the past.
As in previous A Separation , also with regard to Le passé (ie , “the past ” ) in the title is everything.
And as mentioned in the movie , here Asghar Farhadi , this time with French capital and setting , tells the story , in all its complexity and its contradictions .
The life and its progress discontinuous , full of acceleration and sudden braking, progressions and regressions , precisely because of that past that shapes us , conditions us, strengthens us and ballast from which it is so difficult to break free . This syncopated steps and discontinuous , Farhadi applies it to a film that is written and shot with a mastery of classical , gentle and without any apparent effort , able to give the maximum impression of reality precisely where the structuring visual and narrative are significant and complex, such as the alternation of characters and events .

Thanks to this ability , too, that the complex interweaving of events intimate and family who tells Le passé , triggered by the return to Paris of a man who must sign the divorce his ex-wife who has found a new partner , do not seem at all those of a soap opera ( as perhaps it could have been with another director behind the camera) but assume a rate of reality and universality as to be able to involve and move .
It is precisely this apparent impeccability , perhaps, to represent the only limit of the film by Farhadi : life, what he says , it is not flawless , and Le passé missing slightly more in the staging and content, the roughness imperfect capable to score even more incisive eye and heart of the beholder.
But in my mind and heart , as elsewhere, remain strong words , gestures , details : all clean and high specific weight , able to tell the balances and imbalances of the relationships between people and evoke the depths of consciousness.

A journey to the center of the earth literally and metaphorically, a path that does not exclude the tenacious struggle of the 150 miners – the soldiers of the underground – against the closure of their home, the coal mine the result of much controversy being now 10 years since ‘ his last sale of coal mined . Patrizia looks like a work of art forged by a Sardinian sculptor : blue eyes to brighten the face hollow and often blackened by coal, granite physique but surrounded by muscular arms.
