Indonesia: tra il 1965 e il 1966 il generale Suharto prende il potere e dà il via a una delle più sanguinose epurazioni della Storia. Con la complicità e il supporto dell’esercito indonesiano, gruppi para-militari massacrano oltre un milione di persone, tra comunisti, minoranze etniche e oppositori politici. Nato nel 1968, Adi non ha mai conosciuto suo fratello, mutilato e ucciso barbaramente da alcuni membri del Komando Aksi nell’eccidio del Silk River. Arriverà però a incontrare e confrontarsi con i responsabili di quell’atroce delitto, in un percorso che ha come obiettivo quello di tutti i grandi viaggi: la ricerca e l’affermazione della verità.

Perché scomodare il passato? Perché ostinarci nel ricordo e nel rimescolamento stanco delle brutture di un tempo? Forse perché è necessario il ricordo, e lo smascheramento di coloro che quelle brutture le hanno causate?

TRAMA
Mimmo vorrebbe fare solo il muratore, perché gli piace più costruire palazzi che rompere ossa. Invece recuperare crediti, con le cattive, è parte integrante del suo mestiere, almeno secondo il signor Santili, suo zio nonché datore di lavoro. Mimmo vive in un mondo feroce dove si rispettano regole e ruoli, se si vuol tirare a campare senza problemi: giusto o sbagliato che sia, è l’unico mondo che conosce. Tutto cambia quando nella sua vita irrompe Tania, una ragazza bellissima che il Roscio, il suo migliore amico, ha “rimediato” come intrattenimento per Manuel, il figlio di Santili. Costretti da un imprevisto a passare la notte insieme, Mimmo e Tania si scopriranno uniti dal bisogno di sentirsi amati e dalla voglia di sfuggire a un destino già segnato. Ma non si può sperare in una nuova vita senza fare i conti con la vecchia.

PLOT
