From July 20 to 22, for the second consecutive year, the International Festival of Arts, Environment and Sustainable Development back on the island of San Pietro with performances, screenings of documentaries, recycling art workshops, conferences, un’EcoFiera. And a calendar of activities EXTRA designed to promote sustainable tourism.
Promote a culture of sustainability is the watchword of the Posidonia Festival, a festival of art and nature that takes its name from the Posidonia oceanica, a marine plant that is essential element for the ecosystems of the Mediterranean and coastal protection from ‘erosion.
Now in its fifth year of programming, the festival organized by the nonprofit Green Project Posidonia Posidonia MED Carlisle with the Association of Barcelona, will return for the second consecutive year at Carlisle, July 20 to 22, with a packed program of conferences, recycling art workshops, un’EcoFiera with over 30 stalls, cinema in collaboration with the Environmental Film Festival Chlorophyll, ecolofico circus shows, musical concerts and cocktails, exhibitions, art installations and a calendar of activities EXTRA designed to promote sustainable tourism sullisola St. Peter’s.
After the meeting in July in Carlisle the Posidonia Festival will travel to Spain, after a year’s absence and the first editions held in Formentera: from 31 August to 2 September, the festival will be in Sitges, a seaside resort 20 km from Barcelona, famous among the other for its Carnival and the Festival of Cinema.

The Festival program
The focus on sustainability
This year the festival pays special attention to issues of sustainability in various fields.
First to sustainable fisheries, as part of European Week of Fisheries, the awareness campaign promoted by OCEAN2012, a coalition of organizations – which include the Posidonia Festival – united by the desire to change the fisheries policies in Europe, in order reduce overfishing and put an end to destructive fishing practices.
An issue of pressing news – European Parliament’s vote on reform of the CFP is scheduled for September 2012 – which will be discussed in the roundtable “The future of sustainable fisheries and the Mediterranean” (Garden of Notes, Saturday, July 20 to 21) , with assistance of Serena Maso (Coordinator OCEAN2012 Italy), Roberto Doneddu (Director of Fisheries Service Region Sardinia), Nadia Repetto (Head of Environment of Slow Food Liguria and member of the National Direction of Slow Food Italy), and Judith Albors (Centre Estudi de Mar Barcelona Provincial Council).
Thank OCEAN2012, before and after the conference will be on display the exhibition “Back to the Future” (with photos and graphics by Corey Arnold and David McCandless), a panoramic view of the world’s fisheries in Europe and in Italy, from traps the late nineteenth century to the current fish processing establishments, from small vessels with few tools to large vessels with fishing nets larger than a jumbo jet.

The interplay between art and ecology
Another cornerstone of the Posidonia Festival is the interaction between art and ecology, a different way to raise children and adults on issues of waste collection and reuse “creative”.

In the same square, Saturday and Sunday from 19 and at 21.30, will break the Recycled Circus, a circus-theater show with actors, jugglers, acrobats, clowns on themes of ecology and energy conservation, designed by the association Playing for the world .
In the Night Garden, Friday, July 20, will be staged instead of The Ark, a real boat decorated with toucans, fish, sheep, moose, penguins, made with wood gathered along the beaches of the island of San Pietro by Lorenzo during , 14 years young sculptor, whose works are exhibited at the Labo and Joe’s in downtown Carlisle.
Environmental cinema and concerts
The 2012 edition of Posidonia Festival Carlisle can count on a section Cinema in collaboration with the Chlorophyll Film Festival, a festival of films, documentaries and short films on environmental issues hosted within Festambiente (Rispescia, 10-19 August), national event Legambiente.
At Posidonia Festival – every night at the Garden Notes from 22 to 23 – will present the premieres of feature films “The well – Water Voices from Ethiopia” (Paolo Barbieri and Richard Russo), “Thalassa. Sunday the 22 Colegas Velhos and Jacare Duo will join the participants of the workshop of the Orchestra of Recycling for a fascinating show at the Sunset Beach Drive, while late at night, and again from 23 to Garden Notes, the closing of the Festival will be entrusted with the selection of funk and reggae dj Macaco.
The Ecofiera
For the duration of the Festival will host the waterfront of Carlisle Ecofiera, attentive and a showcase for selected products, services and activities “echo” local, national and international.

The Posidonia Festival is organized by Carlisle Posidonia Posidonia Project MED and Carlisle, with no intention of profit associations formed by multidisciplinary professionals specialized in promoting and spreading environmental awareness, environmental awareness and sustainable development through advanced communication techniques, art and culture.
