Straordinaria (e attesissima) appendice a Cagliari per Creuza de Mà, il festival dedicato alla musica per il cinema che un mese fa ha celebrato la sua settima edizione a Carloforte, il paese sull’isola di San Pietro dove è di casa. Giovedì 7 novembre, al Teatro Massimo con inizio alle ore 21, è di scena un musicista che alle colonne sonore ha dedicato con successo tanta parte della sua vasta e variegata produzione: Michael Nyman, una delle figure più innovative e rappresentative della scena musicale britannica degli ultimi tre decenni.

Compositore, pianista, direttore d’orchestra, musicologo e ultimamente anche fotografo e regista, a Cagliari si esibirà in “Cine Opera”, un concerto per pianoforte solo in cui propone, fra gli altri, brani delle sue musiche per film come “Lezioni di piano”, “Le bianche tracce della vita” (“The Claim”), “Il diario di Anna Frank”, “Gattaca” e “Wonderland”. Ad accompagnare le sue note, la proiezione di alcuni dei video di Michael Nyman tratti dalla raccolta Cine Opera, che contiene una serie di filmati girati dal sessantanovenne artista inglese in diverse parti del mondo durante gli ultimi quindici anni: una sorta di “diario visivo” nato dai suoi numerosi viaggi, che documenta aspetti della vita di tutti i giorni, fatti casuali o altre circostanze selezionati dallo stesso musicista, consegnandoci una visione non convenzionale del mondo nel quale viviamo.

Nel pomeriggio (orario ancora da definire), sempre al Teatro Massimo, Michael Nyman parlerà del suo rapporto con il cinema nel corso di un incontro aperto al pubblico (ingresso gratuito) con il musicologo e musicista Riccardo Giagni e lo studioso di musica per il cinema Luca Bandirali, conduttori abituali delle interviste agli ospiti e dei momenti di approfondimento del festival Creuza de Mà.
