Il “magnifico Padre Ubu” è un sovrano prepotente, rozzo, vile, cinico, innamorato del potere, capace di qualsiasi nefandezza pur di non rinunciare alla corona che ha strappato dal capo di re Venceslao dopo averlo assassinato. E siccome Dio li fa e poi li accoppia… madre Ubu, la sua dolce metà, è laida, arrogante e assetata di potere almeno quanto il suo amato-detestato marito! Quando nel 1896 il liceale Alfred Jarry iniziò a scrivere la sua prima versione di “Ubu re” (forse per sbeffeggiare un professore particolarmente dispotico e ignorante), non poteva immaginare che il suo personaggio sarebbe presto diventato il simbolo grottesco dell’arroganza del potere e la commedia un classico del teatro contemporaneo. Nella nostra messa in scena, cercando di rimanere fedeli allo spirito dei personaggi di Jarry, abbiamo riportato Padre Ubu e la sua gentile consorte in un contesto un po’ più vicino ai nostri giorni.Saturday, December 14 21:00 Cagliari – Theatre The Glass

The “magnificent Father Ubu ” is a sovereign bossy, rude , vile , cynical, love of power, capable of any wickedness rather than renounce the crown that has torn from the head of King Wenceslas after having assassinated. And because God makes them and then pair them … Mere Ubu , his better half, is ugly , arrogant and power-hungry as much as his loved – hated husband! When in 1896 the Alfred Jarry high school he began to write his first version of ” Ubu the King” (perhaps to mock a professor particularly despotic and ignorant ) , he could not imagine that his character would soon become the symbol of the arrogance of power and grotesque a comedy classic of contemporary theater. In our staging, trying to remain faithful to the spirit of the characters Jarry , we reported Pere Ubu and his gentle wife in a context a little ‘ closer to our days.
