New York, NY – Sept – Gli spettatori di Cagliari si uniranno a quelli di altre 300 città sparse su 6 continenti per guardare e votare i film della prossima generazione di registi e filmakers selezioanti per la 16edizione del MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival che sarà proiettato alla Cineteca Sarda – Società Umanitaria, viale Trieste Cagliari sia il 3 che 4 ottobre 2013 (inizio spettacoli ore 20 e 30)

A fronte di 628 candidature arrivate da 48 paesi di tutto il mondo, il MANHATTAN SHORT ha selezionato 10 cortometraggi finalisti. Ogni film è lungo al massimo 18 minuti. Gli stati rappresentati quest’anno gli USA, England, Ireland, France, Finland and Australia.  I finalisti delle edizioni passate del festival sono stati spesso nominati o hanno vinto gli Oscar nella categoria corti, questo fa del MANHATTAN SHORT un terreno fertile per il successivo passo nel grande cinema.

Queste dieci opere non solo intraterranno il pubblico ma saranno anche giudicate e votate da questo. Agli spettatori verrò consegnata una scheda per votare, così in ogni cinema coinvolto nel Manhattan Short, le preferenze saranno raccolte e conteggiate dall’ organizzazione centrale proproi a Manhattan che annucierà il vincitore a New York city e sarà pubblicato su Internet (www.ManhattanShort.com) Domenica 6 Ottobre alle 10:00 pm.

“Nei miei 16 anni di programmazione MANHATTAN SHORT, questo è di gran lunga il programma più forte che abbia mai messo insieme”, dice il Direttore del Festival Nicholas Mason. “C’è qualcosa per tutti, dai 16 anni, agli 80. Questo evento non sarà programmato tramite TV via cavo o visibile tramite qualsiasi altra forma di download digitale. Se non vai a vedere il MANHATTAN SHORT al cinema durante la settimana dal 27 settembre al 6 ottobre, lo hai perso”aggiunge Mason.

Per la prima volta, MANHATTAN SHORT nominerà il migliore attore sulla base del voto del pubblico. Il MANHATTAN SHORT crede che l’eccellente lavoro di attori e attrici nei cortometraggi è spesso trascurato da parte del pubblico e della comunità cinematografica in generale. Chiedendo al pubblico del MANHATTAN SHORT di votare per il miglior attore, vuole così riconoscere il ruolo cruciale che un attore interpreta secondo la visione del suo regista.

La storia:
Il MANHATTAN SHORT inizia nel 1998, quando Mason proietta 16 cortometraggi su uno schermo montato nel lato di un camion parcheggiato in Mulberry Street, Little Italy, a New York City.
Un anno dopo, il festival si trasferisce a Union Square Park sempre a New York City.
All’indomani dell’11 settembre 2001, il MANHATTAN SHORT si è trasformato in un fenomeno mondiale, diventato l’unico festival di cinema sul pianeta che si svolge, in contemporanea, in più di 250 sale cinematografiche e in sei continenti, portando oltre 100.000 cinefili in tutti gli angoli del globo, ancora una volta insieme per una settimana, a confronto con la nuova generazione di cineasti.

In the face of 628 applications came from 48 countries around the world, MANHATTAN SHORT selected 10 short film finalists . Every movie has a maximum length of 18 minutes. These ten works intraterranno not only the public but will also be judged and voted on it. Viewers will I receive a card to vote , so in every involved in the Manhattan Short Film , preferences will be collected and counted by ‘ central organization in Manhattan that proproi annucierà the winner in New York City and will be published on the Internet ( www.ManhattanShort.com ) Sunday, October 6 at 10:00 pm .

“In my 16 years of programming MANHATTAN SHORT, this program is by far the strongest I have ever put together,” says Festival Director Nicholas Mason . “There’s something for everyone from 16 years old to 80. This event will be programmed via cable TV or visible through any other form of digital downloads . If you do not go to see the MANHATTAN SHORT to the movies during the week from September 27 October 6 , you’ve lost, ” adds Mason .

For the first time , MANHATTAN SHORT nominate the best actor on the basis of the public vote . The MANHATTAN SHORT believes that the excellent work of actors and actresses in the short films is often overlooked by the public and the film community in general. MANHATTAN SHORT asking the public to vote for the best actor, so want to recognize the crucial role that an actor plays according to the vision of its director .

The story:
The MANHATTAN SHORT begins in 1998, when Mason 16 short films projected on a screen mounted in the side of a truck parked on Mulberry Street, Little Italy, New York City.
A year later , the festival moved to Union Square Park also in New York City.
In the aftermath of 11 September 2001, the MANHATTAN SHORT became a worldwide phenomenon, became the only film festival that takes place on the planet , at the same time , in more than 250 cinemas and on six continents , carrying over 100,000 movie fans in all corners of the globe, together once again for a week, compared with the new generation of filmmakers .
