I lavori di Claudia Matta sono piccole luci, piccoli Orb che appaiono allo spettatore sospesi nello spazio. Orb è un termine inglese che definisce un effetto ottico casuale risultante in piccole sfere (somiglianti a globi di luce) che in certe condizioni appaiono nelle immagini fotografiche o nei filmati ripresi con moderni apparecchi digitali. Pur essendo stato spiegato in maniera scientifica, questo fenomeno è stato anche interpretato in senso lato, come una gamma altamente variabile di soprannaturale, un fenomeno paranormale senza verificabilità, come spiriti invisibili, luci inattese, aure, angeli, fantasmi, campi di energia, entità psico-energetiche, sfere d’energia, quindi come la loro rappresentazione palesata e duratura di un attimo catturato da un flash di luce.

Così come per gli Orb, le “Luminescenze” presentate dall’artista hanno questo doppio aspetto: i riferimenti di Claudia Matta comprendono esoterismo e scienza, passando da Cartesio a Jodorowsky. La descrizione di luminescenza che Claudia Matta fornisce proviene direttamente da un trattato di ottica, ma le immagini che lei cataloga potrebbero provenire da una sessione di ipnosi, da un sogno lucido dove il tempo non esiste più nell’accezione comune. Il tempo del sogno non ha limite, non ha coerenza né un ordine; pertanto, sulla base di questo tempo onirico, le immagini sono variegate e apparentemente slegate tra loro, per creare una serie di Attimi, un concetto temporale che Claudia Matta descrive così: “Attimo, inteso come particella invariabile del tempo, Il Tempo, esso stesso convenzione, sfuggevole, inesistente nel momento in cui lo si nomina. Restituire all’Attimo l’immagine che si crea di esso sotto forma di nuova luce.”

The work of Claudia Matta are small lights, small orb that appear to the viewer suspended in space. Orb is a term that defines an optical random resulting in small spheres (resembling balls of light) that under certain conditions appear in the photos or movies taken with modern digital equipment. Although it was explained in a scientific way, this phenomenon has also been interpreted broadly, as a highly variable range of supernatural, paranormal phenomenon without verifiable as invisible spirits, unexpected lights, auras, angels, ghosts, energy fields, entities psycho-energetic, energy balls, then as their representation clearly evident and lasting a moment caught by a flash of light.

As with the Orb, the “Luminescence” presented by the artist have this double aspect: Claudia Matta include references and esoteric science, from Descartes to Jodorowsky. The description of luminescence Claudia Matta provides directly from a treatise on optics, but the images that she lists could come from a hypnosis session, to be a lucid dream where time no longer exists in the common. The time of the dream has no limits, no coherence or an order, so based on this dream time, the images are varied and seemingly unrelated to each other, to create a series of Moments, a concept of time that Claudia Matta describes it thus: “moment, understood as a particle invariant time, Time, Convention itself, elusive, non-existent when it appoints. Return to the moment the image that you create it as a new light. “
