La Companyia de Ballet David Campos è una formazione di danza che unisce tendenze contemporanee al rigore e alla disciplina del balletto classico. Dalla sua creazione nel 1999  la compagnia ha riempito un vuoto nel panorama della danza spagnola, dove non esistevano compagnie di balletto stabili.

Ne Lo Schiaccianoci, pur mantenendosi fedele allo spirito del racconto di Hoffmann, il direttore David Campos ha lavorato con la magia dell’opera ambientando l’azione nell’epoca del Natale ma in un contesto molto diverso dal solito. Il coreografo si è circondato di giovani talenti molto lontani culturalmente e stilisticamente da questa opera con uno sguardo molto personale su questo classico.Il viaggio di Clara e dello Schiaccianoci viene riletto dando importanza non solo alla coreografia ma anche all’ambientazione e alla scenografia, servendosi di nuove tecnologie, materiali, forme per portarci in un mondo onirico e irreale tra la veglia e il sogno.La fantasia e i caratteri fiabeschi sono  ripresi ma l’azione si svolge in un contesto urbano di attualità e i protagonisti (Clara, lo Schiaccianoci e perfino il signor Drosselmayer) assumono una dimensione insospettabile in cui il balletto, la scenografia e l’audiovisivo diventano un linguaggio plastico per dare una nuova lettura a questo classico.

DAVID CAMPOS
Direttore Artistico e Coreografo

Nato a  Barcelona, inizia il suo percorso artistico nel campo della danza all’Istituto del Teatro di Barcellona. Dopo studi internazionali a Parigi alla scuola di balletto di Ballet de Solagne Golovine (Marqués de Cuevas). Entra successivamente nel Ballet Real of Flandes, una delle compagnie di referenza della danza in Belgio, dove sviluppa la sua carriera come solista e con opere di prestigiosi coreografi come Jiri Kyliam, Nils Christie o Valery Panov. Nel 1987 ritorna  a Barcelona e fonda con la moglie Irene Sabas, anche lei solista del Ballet Real of Flandes, la propria compagnia. Nascono così nuovi progetti: Petrushka; Codex Latinus (Carmina Burana); Velvet Wings, creata per il Ballet Manila delle Filippine; Rock Réquiem; Inquietuts; Temas de Vivaldi e la sua produzione, La Màscara de la Mort Roja, opera completa basata sul racconto di Edgar Allan Poe, in collaborazione con il famoso gruppo rock finlandese Apocalyptica.

The Companyia David Campos de Ballet is a dance training that combines contemporary trends to the rigor and discipline of classical ballet. Since its creation in 1999, the company has filled a void in the landscape of Spanish dance, where there were no permanent ballet companies.

The Nutcracker, while remaining faithful to the spirit of the story of Hoffmann, director David Campos has worked with the magic of the settling action in the era of Christmas but in a very different context than usual. The choreographer has surrounded himself with talent far culturally and stylistically from this work with a look on this classico.Il very personal journey of Clara and the Nutcracker is read giving importance not only to the choreography but also the ambience and setting, using of new technologies, materials and shapes to bring us into a dream world and unreal between waking and sogno.La fantasy and fairy-tale characters are taken but the action takes place in an urban environment and current players (Clara, the Nutcracker, and even Mr. Drosselmayer) play an unsuspected dimension in the ballet, the scenery and audiovisual become a visual language to give a new interpretation of this classic.

Born in Barcelona, he began his artistic career in the field of dance of the Theatre Institute of Barcelona. After studying in Paris at the International School of Ballet Ballet de Solagne Golovine (Marqués de Cuevas). Shall then enter into the Real Ballet of Flanders, one of the companies of reference of dance in Belgium, where he developed his career as a soloist and with works of famous choreographers such as Jiri Kyliam, Nils Christie and Valery Panov. In 1987 he returned to Barcelona and founded with his wife Irene Sabas, who was also a soloist of the Ballet of Flanders Real, his own company. Thus new projects: Petrushka; Codex Latinus (Carmina Burana); Velvet Wings, created for the Ballet Manila in the Philippines; Rock Requiem; Inquietuts; Temas de Vivaldi and its production, Mascara Roja de la Mort, complete works based on the novel Edgar Allan Poe, in collaboration with the famous Finnish rock band Apocalyptica.
