Venerdì 10 maggio alle 17 e sabato 11 maggio alle 19, in due recite fuori abbonamento, si esibisce il Ballet Preljocaj in un’attesissima nuova creazione intitolata Les Nuits che s’ispira a Le mille e una notte ed è inserita nel XIII Festival di Sant’Efisio del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari.

I corpi dei diciotto danzatori del Ballet Preljocaj, fondato e diretto dal geniale coreografo francese Angelin Preljocaj, si fanno “calligrafia delle emozioni e degli stati d’animo”, il mistero e la seduzione dell’Oriente trovano echi e corrispondenze nella nuova mise en scène grazie al métissage musicale tecno-glam dei compositori Natacha Atlas & Samy Bishai, alla scenografia di Constance Guisset, ai costumi capricciosi del celebre couturier francese Azzedine Alaïa ed alle luci di Cécile Giovansili-Vissière.

L’ensemble di punta della scena contemporanea lega il suo nome ad uno dei coreografi più affascinanti ed influenti della “nouvelle danse” francese, Angelin Preljocaj, che è conosciuto per la finezza della scrittura compositiva, la spiccata sensualità del gesto, la corale creatività delle sue messe in scena. A pochi giorni dal debutto assoluto ad Aix en Provence, sede della compagnia, in cartellone per le celebrazioni di Marsiglia-Provenza Capitale Europea della Cultura 2013, già richesto dai maggiori teatri, il nuovo spettacolo promette di essere una serata veramente imperdibile. Con il suo gusto per l’orientalismo acceso, già manifestato in una manciata di celebri creazioni, il coreografo sceglie come fonte d’ispirazione Le mille e una notte, la raccolta di racconti fantastici dal fascino senza tempo.

«Per il progetto Marsiglia-Provenza 2013 il cui tema è il Mediterraneo – racconta Angelin Preljocaj alla vigilia della creazione – ho scelto di intraprendere una ricerca su Le mille e una notte. Oltre al mistero che avvolge un’opera scritta sicuramente a più mani e che presenta una grande varietà di racconti concatenanti gli uni agli altri, questo libro ha fatto sognare generazioni di lettori di tutti i tempi, attratti dalla sua dimensione fantastica ed erotica. Alcuni racconti contengono aspetti molto sensuali, che vorrei riportare nella danza. Nel 1988 avevo creato la coreografia Liqueurs de chair basata, nello specifico, sul tema dell’erotismo, ma impregnata di estetica surrealista. Mi piacerebbe immergermi di nuovo in questo tema ma in un contesto più scintillante, mantenendo il mistero e il fascino che l’Oriente evoca nell’immaginario collettivo. Un altro tratto interessante de Le mille e una notte è l’espediente ideato da Shéhérazade che attraverso la parola, la cultura e l’intelligenza si difende dalla barbarie e ci induce ad interrogarci sul ruolo della donna nella nostra società. Le piste aperte da questo monumento della letteratura sono numerose e ciascuna tematica mi induce a sviluppare la danza in quanto concetto e a spingere oltre la scrittura stessa del movimento».

Friday, May 10 to 17 and Saturday, May 11 to 19, in two performances of the subscription, performance by Ballet Preljocaj in a much-anticipated new creation called Les Nuits which is inspired by The Arabian Nights and is included in the XIII Festival of Sant ‘Ephisius the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari.

The bodies of eighteen dancers of the Ballet Preljocaj, founded and directed by the brilliant French choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, become “calligraphy of emotions and moods,” the mystery and seduction of the East are echoes and correspondences in the new mise en scène thanks to the techno-glam métissage music of composers Natacha Atlas & Samy Bishai, set design by Constance Guisset, whimsical costumes of the famous French couturier Azzedine Alaïa and lights of Cécile Giovansili-Vissière.

The ensemble of the tip of the contemporary scene linked its name to one of the most fascinating and influential choreographers of the “nouvelle danse” French, Angelin Preljocaj, who is known for the subtlety of writing composition, the strong sensuality of the act, the choral creativity its staged. A few days after the debut in Aix en Provence, home of the company, on the bill for the celebrations of Marseille-Provence, European Capital of Culture 2013 already required now the major theaters, the new show promises to be an evening truly missed. With his taste for Orientalism on, already appeared in a handful of famous creations, the choreographer chose as inspiration The Thousand and One Nights, a collection of fantastic tales of timeless charm.

“For the project Marseille-Provence 2013, the theme of which is the Mediterranean – says Angelin Preljocaj the eve of creation – I chose to undertake a research on the Thousand and One Nights. In addition to the mystery that surrounds definitely a work written by many hands, and that presents a wide variety of stories concatenanti to each other, this book caught the imagination of generations of readers of all time, attracted by its great size and erotic. Some stories contain very sensual aspects, which I will return in the dance. In 1988 I created the choreography Liqueurs de chair based, specifically, on the theme of eroticism, but imbued with surrealist aesthetics. I’d like to immerse myself again in this theme but in a more glittering, keeping the mystery and charm that the East evokes the collective imagination. Another interesting trait of The Thousand and One Nights is the gimmick conceived by Scheherazade who through word, culture and intelligence defends itself from barbarism and leads us to question the role of women in our society. The slopes open by this monument of literature are numerous and each topic leads me to develop the dance as a concept and to push beyond the very writing of the movement. “
