L’USB dead drop è un sistema di file sharing offline, peer-to-peer e anonimo che si basa sulla condivisione pubblica di una chiave USB.

Tipicamente la chiave USB viene inserita in un muro e fissata con il cemento. Inizialmente è vuota eccetto che per il file readme.txt che ne spiega l’utilizzo, e chiunque la può utilizzare per caricare e scaricare files.
L’idea nasce da un artista berlinese che lo realizza per la prima volta a New York nel 2010.
Durante il Festival Letterario Leggendo Metropolitano 8 chiavette USB saranno installate con temi specifici ovvero per  “tipo di legame e conterrà del materiale ad esso relativo”. Gli otto temi scelti sono: la follia, il dolore, l’identità, la passione, la cittadinanza, il corpo, l’empatia, il potere.

Gli artisti coinvolti sono  Barbara Ardau e Mimmo Di Caterino (Tavor Art Mobil), Matteo Campulla (Movimento Oscurantista), Marco Porcedda (Hiç çop yok), Matteo Tauriello (Freom)”

The USB dead drop is a file sharing system offline, peer-to-peer and anonymous which is based on public sharing of a USB key.

Typically the USB key is inserted into a wall and secured with cement. Initially it is empty except for the readme.txt file that explains how to use, and anyone can use to upload and download files.
The idea came from a Berlin artist who realizes for the first time in New York in 2010.
During the Festival Literary Reading Metropolitano 8 USB drives will be installed with specific topics or for “type of bond and will contain the material for it.” The eight themes chosen are: madness, grief, identity, passion, nationality, body, empathy, power.

The artists involved are Barbara Ardau and Mimmo Di Caterino (Tavor Art Mobil), Matthew Campulla (Movement obscurantist), Marco Porcedda (hic yok COP), Matteo Tauriello (freom) “
