IV MELLANO BEACH CONTEST – CAGLIARI – 6 TO 8 JULY

For the fourth consecutive year, a group of guys dedicated himself to organize a “three days” of basketball (and not only!) In memory of Enrico Mellano, their friend and always generous teammate who died prematurely during the night 6 and 7 August five years ago, following a terrible car accident.

The event program – called “Mellano Beach Contest” – will take place this year on the weekend running from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th July, at the usual basketball court decorated for the occasion by the City of St. Helens, Poetto on the waterfront.

The primary purpose of the event will, of course, to spend three long days together, in the indelible memory of our friend Henry, who left us too soon and that none of us will ever forget.

Like every year, we are committed to create an event engaging, funny, new, “fresh” about friendship and the true values of sport that we have tied up and there will always bind to the memory of Henry, with whom We have shared joys, sorrows, victories, defeats, tears and many laughs.

Poetto beach will be a splendid setting for the sporting event and to countless other initiatives we have planned.

The organizers have opted, once again, as happened last year, for two mini-tournament, male and female.

Men will compete in the tournament, on the one hand, PRO 4 teams, composed of the most outstanding basketball players islanders of the moment and, secondly, OPEN 4 teams, composed by friends instead of Henry militants in categories lower than the previous, or simply more elderly.

The formula provides for both rounds, a round-robin followed by semi finals and finals.

As for the women’s tournament, will be 4 teams (players or not, but, however, friends of Henry!), Which will compete first in the semifinals and then finals.
The names of all teams (Mello, Kite, Nennello etc. ..) remember – as always – the many nicknames over the years we have buckled to Henry, who nicknames himself, with his innate spirit, born and brought never feel themselves offended .

The elimination rounds – with alternating games and PRO OPEN – will be played starting from the day of Friday, June 6, from 20:00 and will continue on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th, from 10:00 am to 12 : 30 and then in the afternoon, from 16:30 until 21:30.

On Sunday the program includes all the finals: the OPEN Tournament, the Tournament of girls and, last but not least, the final tournament of the PRO.

Will close, then, with the final awards ceremony and a buffet offered by the organizers.

Like every year, the organization will work closely with a group of sponsors, whose logos will be included in the poster presentation of the event, which will be disseminated electronically and in paper form.

The event, given the enormous success of previous years, will certainly have wide coverage of local newspapers and broadcasters …… and we will once again pleased to have done our best to remember Henry, and to thank him all the affection that has always shown!
