Il primato del Burj Khalifa di Dubai sarà battuto entro il 2019. La torre più alta del mondo sorgerà a Gedda, in Arabia Saudita, e supererà il chilometro di altezza. Lavori “principeschi” – L’idea del grattacielo di Gedda appartiene infatti al principe Al-Waleed bin Talal, 59 anni, ricchissimo uomo d’affari nonché nipote del re Abdullah. Il sovrano saudita ha appoggiato il progetto, che stabilirà il nuovo record mondiale in fatto di altezza di un edificio: il Kingdom Tower supererà di ben 170 metri il vecchio primato. Questo entro il 2019, data fissata per il termine dei lavori.

Finanziamenti record – La torre saudita avrà 200 piani e al suo interno ospiterà uffici, sale per conferenze, negozi e servizi di lusso. Per la costruzione saranno necessarie 80mila tonnellate di acciaio e 1,23 miliardi di dollari, finanziati dalla società Kingdom Holding Company, riporta il sito della Cnn.
