Saranno questi due momenti significativi del programma della visita di Papa Francesco
Il pontefice argentino sarà a Cagliari dalle 8 di domenica 22 settembre 2013.
Una giornata fitta di impegni, che inizierà con la Messa nella Basilica di Bonaria  e si concluderà con un incontro con i poveri in viale Sant’Ignazio

Una visita di dieci ore a Cagliari, la messa e l’Angelus in piazza davanti al Santuario e Basilica di Nostra Signora di Bonaria e due incontri con i lavoratori e i giovani, ma anche un momento con i poveri seguendo la strada tracciata nel suo Pontificato.

È questo il programma di massima stilato dal Vaticano e inviato in bozza al comitato organizzatore della giornata del 22 settembre quando Papa Francesco sarà a Cagliari.

Il Pontefice dovrebbe arrivare poco dopo le 8 in città dove è previsto un incontro con i lavoratori nel Largo Carlo Felice. Poi il corteo papale sfilerà nelle principali strade cittadine per raggiungere prima delle 10:30 il piazzale del Cis e dei Centomila, davanti al sagrato della Basilica dove sarà allestito il palco per la messa e l’Angelus.

Al termine delle celebrazioni liturgiche e del simbolico abbraccio tra la Sardegna e l’Argentina, patria di Papa Bergoglio, nel segno della Madonna di Bonaria, il Papa è atteso al Seminario arcivescovile per il pranzo con i vescovi sardi.

Nel pomeriggio è previsto un passaggio alla mensa della Caritas in viale Sant’Ignazio e alla Facoltà teologica della Sardegna.

Gran finale alle ore 17 con l’incontro con i giovani nel Largo Carlo Felice.

Il Pontefice ha dato personalmente l’annuncio del suo pellegrinaggio in terra sarda all’udienza generale di mercoledì 15 maggio 2013 in Piazza san Pietro:
«Un pensiero speciale rivolgo ai Vescovi, ai sacerdoti e ai fedeli provenienti dalla Sardegna; cari amici, vi ringrazio per la vostra presenza e di cuore affido voi e le vostre comunità alla materna intercessione della Vergine Santa che venerate con il titolo di “Madonna di Bonaria”. A questo proposito, vi vorrei annunciare che desidero visitare il Santuario a Cagliari – quasi sicuramente nel mese di settembre – perché fra la città di Buenos Aires e Cagliari c’è una fratellanza per una storia antica. Proprio nel momento della fondazione della città di Buenos Aires, il suo fondatore voleva nominarla “Città della Santissima Trinità”, ma i marinai che lo avevano portato laggiù erano sardi e loro volevano che si chiamasse “Città della Madonna di Bonaria”. Vi fu una disputa fra di essi e alla fine hanno trovato un compromesso, così che il nome della Città risultò lungo: “Città della Santissima Trinità e Porto di Nostra Signora di Bonaria”. Ma essendo tanto lungo, sono rimaste le due ultime parole: Bonaria, Buenos Aires, in ricordo della vostra icona della Madonna di Bonaria» The Angelus at Bonaria and a salute to the Caritas canteen.

A ten-hour visit to Cagliari, the Mass and the Angelus in the square in front of the Basilica and Shrine of Our Lady of Bonaria and two meetings with workers and young people, but also a time with the poor following the path traced in his pontificate.

This is the tentative schedule drawn up by the Vatican and sent in draft form to the organizing committee of the day on September 22, when Pope Francis will be at Cagliari.
