Basato sul più importante romanzo della letteratura italiana, scritto nel 1827 e pubblicato nella versione definitiva nel 1840 da Alessandro Manzoni (scrittore, poeta e drammaturgo – Milano 1785-1873), “Questo matrimonio non s’ha da fare” racconta le vicende ingarbugliate di due giovani, Renzo Tramaglino e Lucia Mondella, che si incrociano nel contesto storico dell’ Italia del 1600, durante la dominazione spagnola e la peste.
I due promessi stanno per sposarsi, quando un signore del luogo, Don Rodrigo, decide, per scommessa, di contrastare le nozze ed invia due suoi bravi per minacciare Don Abbondio, il curato incaricato di celebrare il matrimonio, affinché non sposi i giovani; il povero curato, suo malgrado, esegue l’ordine, imbastendo a Renzo delle scuse per rinviare le nozze ma, il giovane, non vedendoci chiaro, lo costringe a rivelare la verità e , dopo essersi consultato con Lucia, decide di chiedere aiuto all’avvocato Azzecca Garbugli, senza, però, ricavarne alcuna soluzione.
In seguito ad un fallito tentativo dei due promessi di farsi sposare dal curato con l’inganno, e scoperta l’intenzione di Don Rodrigo di rapire Lucia, si arriva alla decisione di fuggire: Renzo a Milano e Lucia a Monza; segue un lungo periodo di separazione che troverà il suo lieto fine solo quando gli innamorati si ritroveranno al lazzaretto di Milano dopo varie peripezie, personaggi illustri e non, e durante gli anni in cui l’Italia veniva colpita dalla peste. Lucia scioglierà il suo voto fatto alla Madonna, Renzo perdonerà Don Rodrigo, ammalato e ormai morente, e Don Abbondio celebrerà finalmente le nozze.

NOTE DI REGIA:
“Questo matrimonio non s’ha da fare” nasce con l’intento di invogliare i giovani studenti alla lettura del famoso romanzo del Manzoni, da sempre materia di studio nelle scuole, attraverso una rilettura in chiave parodistica delle vicende dei promessi sposi.

Nonostante la trama rimanga, comunque, invariata, lo spettacolo lascia spazio alla contaminazione moderna di figure più o meno note della televisione e del cinema che, attraverso un linguaggio più attuale, danno ai personaggi del Manzoni un colore e una vivacità fuori dalle righe. Sarà Alessandro Manzoni stesso, impersonato da uno degli attori, a narrare i trentotto capitoli del romanzo che, qui, verranno condensati in un atto unico della durata di circa 60-70 minuti. Si avrà, cosi, un impatto forse più immediato e divertente con un opera dall’importanza storica e culturale di uno dei maggiori romanzieri italiani di tutti i tempi, o, almeno, questo vuole essere il proposito.La Bottega of the theater

Based on the most important novel of Italian literature , written in 1827 and published in final version in 1840 by Alessandro Manzoni (writer, poet and playwright – Milan, 1785-1873 ) , “This marriage is not to make ” tells the story of tangled two young men, Renzo and Lucia Tramaglino Mondella , which cross in the historical context of ‘Italy in 1600 , during the Spanish domination and the plague.
The two are promised to marry, when a gentleman of the place, Don Rodrigo , decided to bet , to thwart the wedding and sends two of his good to threaten Don Abbondio , the priest in charge of celebrating the wedding, so do not you marry young ; the poor curate , despite himself, will execute the order , placed on trial in Renzo excuses to postpone the wedding , but the young man, not seeing clearly, forces him to reveal the truth and , after consultation with Lucia , he decided to ask for help to ‘ Azzecca Garbugli lawyer , without , however, obtaining any solution.
Following a failed attempt by the two promised to be married by the priest with the deception , and discover the intention of Don Rodrigo to kidnap Lucy, you come to the decision to flee : Renzo and Lucia at Monza in Milan ; following a long period of separation that will find its happy ending only when the lovers will meet at the military hospital in Milan after several adventures , celebrities or not, and during the years in which Italy was hit by the plague . Lucia melt his vow made to the Virgin Mary , Renzo forgive Don Rodrigo, now sick and dying , and Don Abbondio finally celebrate the wedding.

DIRECTOR’S NOTES :
“This marriage is not to do ” was created with the intent to entice young students to read Manzoni’s famous novel , has always been a subject of study in schools, through a reinterpretation of the events of parody Betrothed .
Despite the plot remains , however, unchanged , the show leaves room to contamination modern figures more or less well-known television and film that , through a language more current, give characters Manzoni’s color and vibrancy outside the lines. Will Alessandro Manzoni himself , played by one of the actors , to tell the thirty-eight chapters of the novel that , here , will be condensed into a one-act play lasting about 60-70 minutes. It will , thus , perhaps a more immediate impact and fun with a work by the historical and cultural heritage of one of the greatest Italian novelists of all time , or , at least , this is supposed to be about .
