I Musei Civici di Cagliari aderiscono alla Giornata Internazionale dei Musei, indetta come ogni anno da ICOM, International Council of Museums, per il 18 maggio.
Il tema di quest’anno, Musei (Memoria + Creatività) = Sviluppo Sociale, espresso in forma di equazione, comprende dinamicamente diversi concetti che sono essenziali per definire ciò che è oggi un museo, mettendone in evidenza il carattere universale e la positiva influenza sulla società. Il concetto sintetizza la complessità delle funzioni dei Musei e ricorda lo scopo che essi hanno di contribuire allo sviluppo e alla partecipazione della comunità.
Il museo è anche uno spazio sociale radicato che gioca un ruolo nell’identità e nella vitalità del suo territorio, contribuendo a promuovere il passato dello stesso e a costruirne il futuro. In tal senso i musei sono un importante mezzo di scambio culturale, di arricchimento delle culture e di sviluppo della reciproca comprensione, della cooperazione e della pace tra i popoli. Un tema che quest’anno a Cagliari si ricollega perfettamente a tutta una serie di mostre ed iniziative che, a 70 anni di distanza, vogliono ricordare i terribili bombardamenti che sconvolsero la città nel 1943 e che mutarono, per sempre, la vita dei singoli e della collettività.
Per la GIM, i Musei Civici di Cagliari garantiranno l’ingresso gratuito per tutta la giornata. Alle ore 11.00 e alle 16.00, gli storici dell’arte dell’Associazione Orientare proporranno un percorso tematico attraverso le tre strutture:
• Galleria Comunale d’Arte h 11.00 e in replica h 16.00
Il percorso all’interno della Collezione Sarda evidenzierà le opere e gli artisti che hanno condiviso, con la cittadinanza, i momenti drammatici dei bombardamenti. Ci si soffermerà sulle tempere di Tarquinio Sini, vittima del primo spezzonamento aereo su Cagliari; sui gessi di Francesco Ciusa, scampati alla distruzione del suo studio in via Alghero, e in particolar modo sulla Pietà, la scultura “ritrovata” nel 1995 all’interno delle Grotte dei Giardini che servirono da rifugio durante i bombardamenti, divennero dimora per chi perse la propria casa e ricovero per le opere d’arte. Così testimonia la dettagliata relazione di Felice Melis Marini, importante pittore e incisore sardo del Novecento, incaricato, nel 1946, di visionare lo stato conservativo del materiale, recuperato dalle grotte dopo la guerra.
• Museo d’Arte Siamese “Stefano Cardu” h 11.45 e in replica h 16.45
Nelle stesse Grotte trovò riparo anche la Collezione del Museo d’Arte Siamese “Stefano Cardu”, Primo Museo Civico della Città e della Sardegna, allestito in origine al 1° piano del Municipio di via Roma, scampato alla distruzione proprio grazie al suo trasferimento nelle sale della Galleria Comunale d’Arte, nel 1939. Nel corso della visita si approfondirà la storia del munifico collezionista che nel 1918 donò una parte delle opere per organizzare la mostra i cui proventi furono devoluti agli orfani della Prima Guerra Mondiale.

Sede della Municipalità di Cagliari sin dal Medioevo, il Museo sorge all’interno dell’antico quartiere di Castello, nel cuore della vita politica e religiosa della Città. Dalle sue finestre i visitatori possono ammirare monumenti, palazzi storici, contemplare panorami, scorgere angoli e scorci sulle rovine che nell’assenza tengono vivo il ricordo di una città che non c’è più.

I gruppi dei visitatori saranno accompagnati dal personale anche attraverso il percorso che li condurrà da un museo all’altro.

The City Museum of Cagliari adhere to the International Museum Day, organized like every year by ICOM, the International Council of Museums, on May 18.
This year’s theme, Museums (Memory + Creativity) = Social Development, expressed in equation form, includes dynamically different concepts that are essential to define what is now a museum, highlighting the universal and the positive influence on the society. The concept sums up the complexity of the functions of the Museums and remember the purpose that they have to contribute to the development and community participation.
The museum is also rooted in a social space that plays a role in the identity and vitality of its territory, helping to promote the past and build the future of the same. In this sense, museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples. A theme that this year in Cagliari relates perfectly to a variety of exhibitions and initiatives that, 70 years later, they want to remember the terrible bombings that shook the city in 1943 and that changed, forever, the lives of individuals and of the community.
For the GIM, the Civic Museums of Cagliari ensure free admission for the entire day. At 11.00 and 16.00, art historians of the Association Orient propose a thematic through the three structures:
• Municipal Art Gallery 11.00 am and repeated 16.00
The path inside the Sarda Collection will highlight the works and the artists who have shared with the people, the dramatic moments of the bombing. We will focus on the tempera Tarquinio Sini, a victim of the first plane spezzonamento of Cagliari on chalks Ciusa Francis, who survived the destruction of his studio in via Alghero, and especially on the Pieta, the sculpture “rediscovered” in 1995 within Caves of the Gardens, which served as a shelter during the bombing, became home for those who lost their homes and shelter for works of art. So testifies to the detailed report of Felice Melis Marini, an important painter and printmaker of the twentieth century Sardinian, commissioned in 1946, to view the state of conservation of the material recovered from the caves after the war.
• Siamese Art Museum “Stefano Cardu” h 11:45 h 16:45 and repeated
In the same caves found shelter also the Collection of the Art Museum Siamese “Stefano Cardu” First Museum of the City and of Sardinia, set up originally on the 1st floor of City Hall, Via Roma, escaped destruction thanks to its transfer into salt of the Municipal Art Gallery in 1939. During the visit will deepen the story of the generous collector who donated it in 1918 some of the works to organize the exhibition whose proceeds were donated to the orphans of the First World War.

Seat of the Municipality of Cagliari since the Middle Ages, the Museum is set in the Castello district, in the heart of the political and religious life of the city. From its windows, visitors can admire monuments, historic buildings, landscapes contemplate, see nooks and corners on the ruins that in the absence keep alive the memory of a city that no longer exists.

Groups of visitors will be accompanied by staff through the path that will lead them to another museum.
