Al Lazzaretto di Cagliari fotografie, illustrazioni e documenti per ricordare
due grandi tragedie del XX secolo: l’Olocausto e il genocidio ucraino

Nei primi decenni del secolo scorso, mentre in Europa si consumava la tragedia dell’Olocausto con la segregazione, deportazione e assassinio di milioni di ebrei da parte del regime nazista, nella lontana Ucraina veniva messa in atto l’Holodomor, lo sterminio dei contadini ucraini per fame e povertà voluto dal regime stalinista.
A questi tragici eventi, in occasione della Giornata della Memoria che si celebra ogni anno in tutto il mondo il 27 gennaio è dedicata “I Giorni della Memoria”, mostra al Lazzaretto di Cagliari che sarà inaugurata domenica 27 gennaio alle 18 e sarà visitabile fino al 9 febbraio.

La mostra prevede due sezioni:

“Holodomor, carestia artificiale”, documenti e fotografie sul genocidio ucraino.
La “carestia artificiale” ucraina venne messa in atto dal regime comunista sovietico tra il 1932 e 1933. Nel 1929  Joseph Stalin varava un piano per creare una possente industria di stato e istituire aziende collettive nelle campagne. L’obiettivo nascondeva però la volontà di indebolire la classe sociale contadina vista come un ostacolo alla sovietizzazione della società, oltre che danneggiare pesantemente lo stato ucraino portatore di tradizioni linguistiche e culturali forti e radicate. Milioni di contadini ucraini subirono il sequestro di cibo, attrezzi, animali, la maggior parte morì per stenti ma ci furono anche suicidi provocati dallo squilibrio psichico e dal collasso sociale. Nell’arco di qualche settimana 11 mila villaggi si svuotano completamente e si calcolano tra i 7 e i 10 milioni di ucraini morti per quella che fu una carestia terroristica

“Auschwitz: Quaderno di viaggio dentro il Kampf Lager”, illustrazioni e fotografie di Stefano Obino.
Stefano Obino, illustratore e grafico oristanese, ha realizzato diversi reportage di viaggi ispirandosi ai “carnet de voyage” degli esploratori ottocenteschi. In questa sezione, le impressioni fermate su carta durante una visita all’interno del centro di deportazione e sterminio di Auschwitz in Polonia, luogo simbolo dell’Olocausto dove morirono, per stenti o dentro le camere a gas, migliaia di ebrei deportati da tutta Europa durante il regime nazista.

At the Lazaretto of Cagliari photographs, illustrations and documents to remember
two great tragedies of the twentieth century : the Holocaust and the genocide of the Ukrainian

In the early decades of the last century , while in Europe the tragedy of the Holocaust and segregation , deportation and murder of millions of Jews by the Nazi regime in the distant Ukraine was put in place the Holodomor , the extermination of the Ukrainian farmers hunger and poverty wanted by the Stalinist regime .
In these tragic events on the occasion of Holocaust Memorial Day which is celebrated every year around the world January 27 is dedicated to ” The Days of Remembrance” exhibition at the Lazaretto of Cagliari which will be inaugurated on Sunday January 27 at 18 and will be open until February 9.

The exhibition includes two sections:

” Holodomor , the artificial famine ” , documents and photographs on the Ukrainian genocide .
The ” artificial famine ” was put in place by the Ukrainian Soviet communist regime between 1932 and 1933. In 1929, Joseph Stalin varava a plan to create a powerful state industry and establish collective farms in the countryside . The goal , however, hid the desire to weaken the social class peasant seen as an obstacle to the Sovietization of society, as well as severely damage the Ukrainian state carrier of linguistic and cultural traditions rooted and strong . Million Ukrainian peasants suffered the seizure of food , tools, animals , most died of starvation , but there were also suicides caused by the imbalance psychic and social collapse . Within a few weeks 11 thousand villages are completely empty and are calculated between 7 and 10 million Ukrainians died of what was once a famine terrorist

” Auschwitz : Travel book into the Lager Kampf ” , illustrations and photographs of Stephen Obino .
Stephen Obino , illustrator and graphic Oristano , has made several travel reportage inspired by the ” carnet de voyage ” of the nineteenth-century explorers . In this section , impressions stops on paper during a visit inside the center of the deportation and extermination of Auschwitz in Poland , the symbol of the Holocaust , where they died , of starvation or in the gas chambers , thousands of Jews were deported from all over Europe during the Nazi regime .
