Hotch Potch significa guazzabuglio, miscuglio. E’ proprio quello che succede all’interno della band: dieci musicisti sul palco, tra Inglesi, Francesi di origine e acquisiti, e Italiani, si mescolano nello stufato musicale Hotch Potch, dando vita ad un mix sonoro originale, scatenato e raffinata insieme, che riesce a fondere musica tradizionale e contemporanea, jazz ed elettronica, fado e tango, in maniera totalmente originale grazie anche al diverso background di ogni musicista. Il gruppo nasce dall’incontro tra le due band Plot-z e Rakija e da vita al primo collettivo sardo di musica klezmer e balcanica.
Per la Giornata della Memoria, organizzata in tutta Italia per ricordare le deportazioni nazifasciste, gli Hotch Potch presenteranno un concerto nella Sala Archi del Lazzaretto di Cagliari, tra le opere della mostra “Quaderni di Viaggio”. I musicisti condurranno il pubblico in un percorso alla scoperta delle canzoni yiddish e musiche klezmer, colonna sonora della cultura degli ebrei ashkenaziti,quelli scomparsi per la maggior parte nei campi di sterminio. Rivivrà durante la serata il clima della vita quotidiana negli shtetl, i villaggetti ebraici dell’Est Europa, alla scoperta di un popolo la cui storia va oltre i campi di sterminio, i ghetti, le uccisioni.
Il concerto si inserisce tra gli eventi per “Quaderni di viaggio: un dì tardo traendo”, mostra personale di Stefano Obino sul tema del viaggio. La mostra, inaugurata il 28 ottobre e visitabile fino a domenica 27 gennaio, propone una collezione di circa cento opere inedite di cui settanta tra acquerelli, ritratti a matita e chine e venti fotografie dipinte realizzate tra Francia, Polonia e Germania negli ultimi anni. I Quaderni di Viaggio di Obino, ispirati ai carnet de voyage degli esploratori ottocenteschi, tracciano istantanee di luoghi e volti creando un iter narrativo che ripercorre le tappe del nostro passato, grazie anche a un suggestivo allestimento che riproduce atmosfere, suoni e colori delle città attraversate durante il viaggio.

DISCOVER THE JEWISH WORLD BEYOND THE BARBED WIRE

Hotch Potch means hodgepodge, jumble. It ‘just what is going on inside the band: ten musicians on stage, including English, French origin and acquired, and Italians, are mixed into the stew Hotch Potch music, creating a sound mix original, wild and refined together that manages to combine traditional and contemporary music, jazz and electronics, fado and tango, totally original thanks to the diverse backgrounds of each musician. The band was born from the meeting between the two bands Plot-z and Rakija and create the first collective Sardinian klezmer and Balkan.
For Memorial Day, organized in Italy to remember the Nazi deportation, the Hotch Potch will present a concert in the Hall arches of the Lazaretto of Cagliari, among the works of the exhibition “Books of Travel.” The musicians will lead the audience on a journey of discovery of Yiddish songs and klezmer music, the soundtrack of the culture of Ashkenazi Jews, those disappeared for the most part in the extermination camps. Will live during the evening the atmosphere of daily life in the shtetl, the Jewish small villages in Eastern Europe, the discovery of a people whose history goes beyond the death camps, the ghettos, the killings.
The concert is part of the events for “Travel Diaries: A day late drawing”, a solo show by Stefano Obino the theme of travel. The exhibition was inaugurated on October 28 and open until Sunday, Jan. 27, offers a collection of about a hundred new works of which seventy watercolors, portraits in pencil and ink and painted twenty photographs made between France, Poland and Germany in recent years. The Notebooks of trip Obino, carnet de voyage inspired by the nineteenth-century explorers, trace snapshots of places and faces creating a narrative process that goes through the stages of our past, thanks to an impressive display that reproduces atmosphere, sounds and colors of the cities along during the trip.
