GIROVAGANDO – SASSARI – 20 TO 23 SEPTEMBER

Sassari Summer ends as usual with Wandering, the International Festival of Art on the Street. Now entering its fifteenth year, the festival this year will live the urban spaces in the historical center of Sassari, exploring the theme of “URBAN MUTATIONS.”

Eleven international companies present at the Festival, the Spanish Kamchatka, winners of MiramirO 2008, making the simplicity and intensity of their secret weapons to enchant even the most distracted, Adrian Schvarzstein, founder of the company itself, versatile showman and entertainer- “multi-ethnic” also with a famous show in a lab alone and with a high level on the work of street actor, Les Sages Fous come from Canada, the company of “wise fools” builders and animators puppet refined. Theatre en Vol present a revamped version of BAU Brigade Harmony Urbana, at the end of a very busy season that has seen the company on tour in Slovenia and Denmark, while the same show BAU had its moment of glory in the course of the newly passed edition of the international art exhibition Venice Film Festival. The director Salvatore Mereu has chosen to use some of extracts, specially adapted, in the film “Bellas Mariposas”. Passionate about the time of the company’s work, Mereu, after seeing the show several times, decided to take advantage of the atmosphere at a key moment of his latest film.
In the middle of programming the important special project “Habitat Imaginary 2″ Theatre en Vol Association and Wandering in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari, the Department of Architecture of the University of Sassari, the Association Tamalacà already protagonist of an important work in the Old Town district of San Donato, and young designers Edward Hawks and Claudia Spina, assisted by the photographer Silvia Pazzola. Guided tours with installations and performances to “frame” and “photograph” places, details and figures of the “Sassari old.”
In addition, the Catalans Katakrak, with their imaginative carnival of animated toys made exclusively from recycled materials, along all’Ecocarosello Cugusi of Joseph, the “ecological carousel” that many Sassari now know well – and presented here in a new version .
The Beast comes from Slovenia, not “brutal” and highly poetic acrobat and dancer air. There is also space to contemporary dance in urban areas – now a regular guest of the festival – with Cie Matthew Bittante – a student of prestigious Academy Susanna Beltrami. Still room for street musicians of the Orquestra Wandering Spanish, for the puppet theater of the Sardinians Tages and a fire-spinner exception who calls himself … Wick.
In closing the festival on Sunday morning, 23 a “picnic” in the public gardens will be attended by many of the companies already mentioned and still the Theatre en Vol parade with theatrical-musical Buskovic Uolkin ‘Serenade.
