Lidia, casalinga frustrata, soffre la sua condizione di moglie di operaio che non può avere la casa e l’arredamento al livello del benessere della spocchiosa cognata Rolanda.
Consigliata da Palmeria, astuta faccendiera, fece domanda per l’indennità di accompagnamento per la madre Lolleta quando era ancora in buone condizioni di salute. “Non c’è problema” le aveva assicurata Palmeria: “C’è una mia amica in quegli uffici che può fare ritardare la chiamata a visita della anziana che, intanto, tra un bel po’ di anni decadrà e allora le riconosceranno l’inabilità e così: potrai ricevere gli arretrati a decorrere dalla data della domanda”.
All’apertura della piece, vediamo Lidia che costringe la madre molto invecchiata a penosi esercizi perché non decada e muoia prima che vengano a visitarla. Cos’era successo? Si verrà a sapere che, prima, Lidia sapendo che Palmeria non poteva più procrastinare la visita, aveva fatto decadere anzitempo la salute della madre: proibendole di uscire, non lasciandole far niente, vestendola di pannolone, tenendola a letto più del necessario… al punto che ora tzia Lolleta, malandata, sembra alla fine dei suoi giorni
Ora, per Lidia il problema è di far sopravvivere ancora un po’ la vecchia, essendo stata rassicurata che la commissione medica sarebbe venuta tra pochi giorni per visitarla…
Qui prendono avvio le scene grottesche, tragiche e comiche di questa pièce …
Come in tutti i suoi testi, l’autore mostra condizioni del nostro qui e oggi vedendo sempre le situazioni dalla parte degli ultimi, con amargura ma anche con speranza verso tempi più giusti.

Note di regia
Una commedia dell’assurdo, dove assurdo non è lo sguardo che l’autore volge verso la realtà, ma è la realtà stessa, popolata da personaggi oltre il limite del credibile, composta da situazioni che superano il confine del lecito, del morale, del comprensibile. Storie e personaggi che però sono allo stesso tempo assolutamente reali, riconoscibili fra le mille assurde cose che capitano nella vita di tutti i giorni.
Cos’è c’è di più assurdo, al giorno d’oggi, delle soluzioni che tantissima gente è costretta ad inventare per tirare avanti, per poter campare con quel minimo di dignità che dovrebbe essere il più sacrosanto dei diritti?
Così, una donna che cerca di mantenere in vita la vecchia madre malata pur di garantirsi un assegno di accompagnamento che consentirebbe alla figlia di studiare, a lei di comprarsi qualche piccola cosa in più, non può più essere giudicata negativamente. Non fa’ altro che uno dei piccoli imbrogli a cui assistiamo o partecipiamo tutti i giorni, più o meno consapevolmente, senza più neanche farci caso, abituati come siamo ad assistere ad imbrogli ben più grandi e devastanti compiuti da chi guida e da chi comanda in questa società.
Ecco dove sta’ il vero assurdo: nella realtà a cui ormai siamo abituati, senza più sorprenderci o indignarci, nè tanto meno ribellarci.
Accontentiamoci del teatro, allora, che perlomeno ci offre il piccolo lusso di prenderci un po’ in giro e di riderci sopra, trasformando in una commedia la tragica assurdità della quotidianità della nostra vita.

Director’s Notes
A comedy of the absurd, absurd not where is the look that the author turns to reality, but it is reality itself, populated by characters beyond the limit of credible, consisting of situations that transcend the boundaries of what is permissible, of morality, of understandable. However, stories and characters that are at once absolutely real, recognizable among the many absurd things that happen in life everyday.
What’s more absurd, nowadays, the solutions that so many people are forced to invent in order to get by, to get by with what little dignity that should be the most sacrosanct rights?
Thus, a woman trying to keep alive the old sick mother in order to secure a carers’ allowance which would allow his daughter to study, to buy her a little something extra, can not be judged negatively. Do not ‘nothing but one of the little tricks we see or participate every day, more or less consciously, without even noticing, accustomed as we are to attend cheating much larger and more devastating made by the driver and by those in power in this society.
Here is where ‘the true absurd reality in which we are now accustomed to, no longer surprise or indignation, let alone rebel.
Let us be satisfied of the theater, then, that at least gives us the luxury to take us a little bit ‘around and laugh about it, turning into a comedy the tragic absurdity of our daily life.
