ESCURSIONE AL CANYON GORROPU – IL CANYON PIU’ GRANDE E SPETTACOLARE D’EUROPA

Partenza dal Campo base Gorropu (SS 125 km 190,500)
Percorso escursionistico facile. Partenza in fuoristrada con la guida dal Campo Base Gorropu da cui si percorre uno sterrato panoramico di circa 5 km per raggiungere il rio Flumineddu. Quindi si affronta un facile trekking di 2,5 km di avvicinamento al canyon. Per la visita del sito si impiega circa un’ora. Per il rientro, previsto nel pomeriggio, si ripete a ritroso lo stesso percorso dell’andata, raggiungendo nuovamente il Campo Base Gorropu.
Partenza da Ghenna Sìlana (SS 125 km 183)
Percorso panoramico-escursionistico. Si raggiunge il passo di Ghenna Sìlana. Da tale punto si affronta un trekking di circa due ore lungo 4 km con un dislivello di circa 650 m. Il percorso è assai interessante dal punto di vista paesaggistico, botanico (lecci, corbezzoli, terebinti e ginepri monumentali), faunistico (muflone, martora, aquila) culturale (insediamenti pastorali storici). Per la visita del sito si impiega circa un’ora. Per il rientro si affronta un facile trekking di 2,5 km fino ad attraversare il Rio Flumineddu; da tale punto, con il fuoristrada, si percorre uno sterrato panoramico di circa 5 km per raggiungere il Campo Base Gorropu (SS 125 km 190,500). Qui si effettua una breve sosta e dal punto panoramico è possibile osservare tutto il percorso che si è fatto. Rientro, sempre in fuoristrada, al passo di Ghenna Sìlana.
Gorropu integrale
Percorso escursionistico per esperti. Partenza in fuoristrada con la guida dal Campo Base Gorropu (SS 125 km 190,500). Dopo aver percorso un tratto panoramico della Strada Statale 125, ci si immette nel Supramonte di Urzulei per apprezzare i paesaggi calcarei di Campu Oddeu e di Campos Bàrgios. Si raggiunge il sito Sa Sedda de as bacas e da tale sito si percorre un facile trekking di circa 3 km ricco di attrattive quali: il tasso monumentale e la tomba dei giganti di Su campu de sa Càrcara, l’ovile di Sa Sedda de as bacas. Poi si prosegue percorrendo S’Ischina de s’Arraiga fino a raggiungere Sa Giuntura e Pischina Gorropu, che segna l’ingresso a monte del canyon Gorropu. Qui ha inizio il percorso più impegnativo e più spettacolare all’interno della gola di Gorropu (lunga circa 1500 metri) osservando, stupefatti, l’enorme lavoro che l’acqua del Flumineddu ha fatto nei milioni di anni per posizionare, modellare e levigare enormi massi di calcare originatosi da 190 a 60 milioni di anni fa sotto il livello del mare. L’origine marina è testimoniata anche dalla presenza di fossili come amoniti, alghe, pesci, etc. All’interno si troveranno anche esemplari millenari di Fillirea latifolia e Tasso (Taxus baccata) oltre che altre numerose specie endemiche della Sardegna, ma a confermare l’unicità microclimatica del canyon troviamo l’Aquilegia di Gorropu o Aquilegia nuragica, endemismo che, su tutto il pianeta, vegeta in pochissimi esemplari solo all’interno del canyon.

Departure from Base Camp Gorropu (SS 125 km 190.500)
Easy hiking trail. Out in off-road driving from Base Camp Gorropu from which you take a dirt road scenic approximately 5 km to reach the Flumineddu. So we face an easy trek of 2.5 km of approach to the canyon. For the site visit takes about an hour. For the return, in the afternoon, you repeat back the same route, again reaching Base Camp Gorropu.

After traveling a scenic stretch of Highway 125 that leads into Supramonte of Urzulei to appreciate the landscapes of limestone Campu Oddeu and Campos Bargios. You can reach the site Sedda de Sa as Bacas and from that site along a easy trek of about 3 km where attractions such as: the rate and the monumental tomb of the giants of Su campu de sa carcara, the sheepfold of Sedda de Sa as Bacas. Then continue along until you reach s’Arraiga S’Ischina de Sa and Joint Pischina Gorropu, which marks the entrance of the canyon upstream Gorropu. Here begins the path most challenging and most spectacular in the throat of Gorropu (1500 meters long) watching, amazed, the tremendous work that the water of Flumineddu made ​​in the millions of years to position, shape and polish enormous limestone boulders originated from 190 to 60 million years ago under the sea level.
