10/11 agosto: Massima attività delle Perseidi – bivacco al Monte Genis

Dopo un 2012 con la Luna Piena a illuminare il cielo proprio nelle notti di massima attività delle Perseidi  (le famose “Lacrime di San Lorenzo”) quest’anno ci aspettano condizioni ben migliori!

La Luna sarà nuova il giorno 6 e arrecherà poco disturbo con la sua luce permettendoci di scorgere anche le più deboli (e più numerose) stelle cadenti, meteo permettendo lo spettacolo è assicurato.

Dai 979 metri di Monte Genis si gode un panorama straordinario.

Il rilievo granitico con la sua imponenza delimita l’altopiano di Villasalto dal Sarrabus.

L’area è protetta e rappresenta un’importante colonia per i mufloni (potremmo sentirli e magari ammirarli la notte).

Le pendici e le vallate comprese tra le guglie rocciose sono coperte da una fitta lecceta, entro la quale vi sono numerose ed apprezzate sorgenti.

Avremo un cielo buio e speriamo sereno, che ci permetterà di scorgere anche la più debole meteora; mentre l’esposizione della baita, posta sul versante orientale del monte, ci permetterà di godere l’alba della domenica mattina e la visione di ben 3 pianeti nel cielo mattutino: sopra l’orizzonte orientale brilleranno infatti Marte, Giove e non troppo alto Mercurio.

Sosteremo per il bivacco presso una confortevole baita e rientreremo la mattina di domenica

Sono necessari gli scarponi da trekking ed il sacco a pelo (chi volesse anche la tendina) ed una torcia.

10/11 August Maximum activity of the Perseids – bivouac at Mount Genis

The trail is suitable for our 4-legged friends.

Participation fee: € 15.00

After a 2012 with the Full Moon to light up the sky during the nights of their maximum activity of the Perseids (the famous “Tears of St. Lawrence”) this year we expect far better conditions!

The Moon will be new on the 6th day and will bring little trouble with its light, allowing us to see even the weakest (and more numerous) shooting stars, weather permitting it is always spectacular.

979 meters from Monte Genis will enjoy an extraordinary panorama.

The granite relief with its grandeur delimits the plateau Villasalto from Sarrabus.

The area is protected and is an important colony for mouflon (we could hear them and maybe admire the night).

The slopes and valleys between the rocky pinnacles are covered by a thick ilex grove, within which there are numerous sources and appreciated.

We will have a clear dark sky and we hope that we will see even the faintest meteor, while the exposure of the lodge, located on the eastern side of the mountain, will allow us to enjoy the sunrise on Sunday morning and watching as many as 3 planets in the morning sky: it will shine above the eastern horizon Mars, Jupiter and Mercury not too high.

We will stop for the bivouac at a comfortable cabin and head back Sunday morning

You need hiking boots and sleeping bag (who also wanted the curtain) and a torch.
