Una favola amara a lieto fine, piu’ commedia che tragedia, dove il soffio leggero e irridente degli Dei spazza via d’un fiato tutto quel che sapevamo della piu’ famosa epopea greca(condotta nel nome della bellezza. Il folle nonsenso di ogni guerra di ieri e di oggi.

E se Elena a Troia non ci fosse mai stata? E se greci e troiani avessero combattuto la piu’ terribile delle guerre, dilapidando il fior fiore della giovinezza e un’intera generazione di eroi per un pezzo di cielo ben sagomato messo insieme dagli dei? Anche questo ci dicono gli antichi, attraversando gli intricati e dubbiosi meandri della mitologia e ripercorrendo, nei modi piu’ diversi, il mito fondativo della grecita’, quella ferita tragica e gloriosa che non smise mai di essere ricordata e cantata. Di Elena gli antichi, come anche i moderni, non hanno mai smesso di parlare, perpetuando un conflitto che dai campi insanguinati dell’Iliade, si e’ fatto via via scontro di idee, processo di condanna o salvazione. Elena, “cagna”, leggera e impudente che non si perita di seguire il bellissimo Paride abbandonando Menelao e la figlioletta Ermione, Elena, vittima della forza ineludibile di Afrodite che la costringe all’amore, Elena strumento di un fato che avrebbe portato fama e gloria agli achei, Elena, enigma divino dalle origini favolose: figlia di Zeus, unitosi a Leda in forma di cigno, e nata da un uovo, Elena che viene assurta in cielo coi suoi fratelli Castore e Polluce.

Ma che a Menelao, naufragato sulle coste dell’Egitto, dopo sette anni di fortunoso peregrinare sui mari di ritorno da Troia, toccasse scoprire, come ci dice Euripide, che colei che teneva finalmente stretta al polso, riconquistata dopo tanti travagli, altri non era che una bellissima nuvola e che, in un gioco di sdoppiamento ordito dagli dei, un’altra Elena, che pretendeva di essere quella vera, lo aveva aspettato per diciassette lunghissimi anni, fedele, intatta, in quella terra barbarica, e’ cosa da farlo uscire di senno. Per chi avevano combattuto greci e troiani, in nome di chi avevano dissipato un’intera generazione di eroi?

Elena, questa straordinaria opera dell’estrema maturita’ di Euripide, e’ una favola amara a lieto fine, piu’ commedia che tragedia, dove il soffio leggero e irridente degli dei spazza via d’un fiato tutto quel che sapevamo della piu’ famosa epopea greca, facendocela apparire sotto tutta un’altra luce, e ci fa riflettere sul folle nonsenso di ogni guerra di ieri e di oggi.

Ma insieme ci inoltra nella riflessione che sara’ materia del Festival di filosofia che negli stessi giorni ci parlera’ della bellezza come virtu’ inafferrabile, concentrato ed emblema di ogni valore che non puo’ che sfuggire ad ogni umana strumentalizzazione.ELENA

A bitter tale with a happy ending , more ‘ comedy tragedy , where the soft breath of the gods mocking and sweeps away all that in one breath that we knew of the more’ famous Greek epic (conducted in the name of beauty . The crazy nonsense of any war yesterday and today.

Helen of Troy And if there had never been ? And if the Greeks and Trojans have fought the most ‘ terrible wars , squandering the flower of youth, and an entire generation of heroes for a piece of the sky shaped well put together by the gods ? This also tell us the ancients, through the intricate maze of mythology and doubters and retracing , in the most ‘ different , the founding myth of the Greek ‘ , that glorious and tragic wound that never ceased to be remembered and sung . Elena ancient as well as modern , they never stopped talking , perpetuating a conflict that the bloody fields of the Iliad , and is’ done away clash of ideas, the process of salvation or condemnation . Elena , ” bitch ” , light and impudent that does not hesitate to follow the beautiful Paris and Menelaus abandoning the daughter Hermione, Helen, a victim of the inescapable force that compels the love of Aphrodite , Helen instrument of fate that would bring fame and glory to the Achaeans , Elena , enigma divine origins fabulous : daughter of Zeus , who joined to Leda in the form of a swan, and was born from an egg , Elena, who is risen in the sky with his brothers Castor and Pollux.

But Menelaus , shipwrecked on the coast of Egypt , after seven years of wandering the seas lucky to return from Troy , touched to discover, as Euripides tells us , that she who finally kept close to the wrist , restored after many travails , was none other what a beautiful cloud and that, in a game of splitting of the warp , another Elena, who claimed to be the true one, he had waited for seventeen long years , faithful, intact , in that barbarous land , and ‘ thing to do out of his mind . For those who had fought the Greeks and Trojans , in the name of those who had squandered a whole generation of heroes?
