Una donna anziana e una giovane chiamata a farle da badante. Tutte e due schive, energiche, sarcastiche ed eroiche. Si odiano e si detestano perché sono simili, perché ognuna ha bisogno dell’altra, e, nella solitudine delle rispettive vite, sono l’una per l’altra l’unica presenza confortevole. Consumano le poche ore alla settimana che passano insieme becchettandosi, pungendosi e confessando di sé quello che solo a un estraneo si riesce a confessare.
Ballano. Come balla una nave in balìa delle onde. Ballano la danza dell’esistenza dura e difficile di chi porta dentro una sofferenza ma fuori esibisce una faticosa immagine di forza e autosufficienza. Ballano come una coppia estratta dal mazzo della casualità, quando nelle balere due sconosciuti si trovano a ballare insieme. E per questo ballo non ci sono cavalieri, non ci sono uomini possibili, non ci sono mariti, padri o figli ad accompagnarle. Ma solo due donne che ballano. Avrebbero potuto non incontrarsi mai e continuare a ballare da sole come hanno sempre fatto, e invece per loro fortuna il sollievo della coppia finalmente addolcisce un po’ la fatica.

Una minuscola storia come tante ne accadono nei grandi condomini di qualsiasi città, un microcosmo, un ecosistema esistenziale,  che attraverso la scrittura di Benet I Jornet diventa un modo gentile, amaro e profondamente ironico di raccontare un’ intera società, in cui le persone difficili e scomode sono estromesse e confinate ai margini, ad affrontare in solitudine la pista da ballo del proprio destino.

Josep Maria Benet i Jornet, nato nel 1940 è considerato uno dei massimi autori del teatro spagnolo contemporaneo e il padre del teatro catalano. Ha influenzato almeno due generazioni di autori catalani, ha ricevuto numerosi riconoscimenti e le sue opere sono state rappresentate in tutta Europa, in Argentina e negli Stati Uniti.
Una curiosità che lega la sua biografia a questo testo è la sua grande passione per i fumetti del passato di cui fa collezione, passione che condivide con la più anziana delle Due Donne che Ballano.

An elderly woman and a young man called to be her caregiver . Both are shy , energetic , sarcastic and heroic . They hate each other and hate each other because they are similar because each needs the other , and , in the solitude of their lives for one another are the only comforting presence . Consume a few hours a week they spend together becchettandosi , pricking and confessing to him that only a stranger you are unable to confess.
Dance . How to dance a ship at the mercy of the waves. They dance the dance of life hard and difficult for those who bring in a suffering but out performs a hard image of strength and self-sufficiency. Dance like a pair extracted from the deck of chance , when two strangers in the dance halls are dancing together . And this dance , there are no knights, there are no men as possible, there are husbands , fathers or children to accompany them . But only two women dancing . They could never meet and continue to dance alone as they always have , and luckily for them instead of the relief of the pair finally softens a little ‘ fatigue.

A tiny story like many of them occur in large apartment buildings of any city , a microcosm , an ecosystem existential , that through writing Benet I Jornet becomes a gentle , bitter and deeply ironic to tell a ‘ whole of society , in which people difficult are squeezed out and uncomfortable and confined to the margins , to face alone the dance floor of their own destiny .

Josep Maria Benet i Jornet , born in 1940, is considered one of the leading authors of contemporary Spanish theater and the father of Catalan theater . It has influenced at least two generations of Catalan authors , has received numerous awards and his works have been performed throughout Europe , Argentina and the United States. A curiosity that binds his biography in this text is his great passion for comics of the past which includes collection , a passion he shares with his older of the Two Women Dancing .
