With its “You do not love me (No, no, no)” did dance for generations, coming to climb the charts and will go up on Friday, December 7th stage FBI Club Quartu.
Dawn Penn is a true legend of reggae, rocksteady since the era when women were often relegated to the role of backing vocals and struggling to survive in a world almost exclusively male. After beginning with the historic Studio One label, has collaborated with many of the most famous Jamaican producers and singers, but the rest of the world has discovered her talent in 1993 when, together with the producers Steelie & Cleavie, recorded for ‘ Big Beat label a dancehall version of “You Do not Love Me” (No, No, No): a remake of his hit sixties recorded for Coxsone Dodd. After the initial success, the riddim and the extraordinary chorus of this song has been recycled, sampled and imitated in hundreds of remixes and vocal versions of dj / dancehall, produced both in Jamaica and abroad. But what of “No, No, No” can not be considered as a successful passenger: Dawn Penn has collected because other hits (like “Blue Yes Blue”) and is adept with reggae classics (such as “The First Cut Is The Deepest “and” I Want A Loove I Can See “).
The night of Reggae Music Machine sees all Kuntra and Isla Sound and for the occasion, the sound system will be entrusted to Dawn Penn Dj Afghan, one of the big guns of reggae and Europe.

Dawn Penn is the undisputed queen of Jamaican Reggae. He achieved worldwide fame with his hit “(No, No, No) You Do not Love Me” in the summer of ’94, climbing the charts in the U.S., Europe and Jamaica. Few people know, however, that in fact this song was already a few decades old …
Dawn Penn has partnered with the largest and best known manufacturers and Jamaican artists beginning in the sixties. She won first place in the standings with Johnny Nash and recorded several singles for major record label: Prince Buster, Jackpot, and more. It is in this glorious era that the Queen of Reggae began collaborating with Studio One Clement “Sir Coxsone” Dodd, recording, among many, just the super hit Jamaican “(No, No, No) You Do not Love Me. “
The rest of the world discovers, however, his talent until 1994 when re-recorded his biggest hit with Steelie & Clarke album No No No, including both new material and some excellent reinterpretations of classics like “A Love I Can Feel” and “The First Cut Is The Deepest”.

For almost twenty years, the Italian scene music, Afghan is one of those eclectic characters and world traveler who, while often remaining in the shadows as producers, inflamed tracks dell’Italica Peninsula whenever spin the disc in the console. Has taken the first steps in the music workshop called the Link of Bologna, where he was able to meet people like DJ Mushrooms (Massive Attack), Alex Patterson (Orb), Dj Andy Smith (Portishead), Amon Tobin, Ed Rush and Optical, Africa Bambaata , Michael Rose, Methodman & Redman, Wu Tang Clan, EPMD, KRS One, Talib Queli, David Rodigan and several others. It ‘was one of the founders of links by participating in Bologna from 94 to 2007, he turned discs at Brancaleone and General Stores in Rome, at Leonkavallo and Cox 18 in Milan, the ECU Rimini, at Rototom of Pordenone, the Blue Notes Campobasso, at Fabrik and Castalia area of Turin and has been resident DJ of the Fico D’India Lecce for 4 years. He founded his splendid SOULOVE REC label that shines in the field of reggae and dancehall with singers from all corners of the world. His program ranges from reggae to dancehall to hip hop to land in other words music “BLACK”!
