Frigyes Hidas (Budapest 1928 to 2007). He was musical director of the Hungarian National Theatre and the Municipal Operetta Theatre in Budapest. He was a prolific author who firmly believed in sounds and harmonies in the traditional sense and this is written in a simple and accessible language. He composed operas, ballets, concerts, choral music. It is particularly well known in the world for music written for “woods” and “brass” and wind orchestras.
The Requiem was performed for the first time November 3, 1996 at the “Bakats Temple Square” in Budapest on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. It is a work written according to the norms and traditional models and at the same time for having created a modern organ tone by merging the entries with the sounds of staff band. It is a work “hard” for items that are always the protagonists and who must make unusual chromatic progressions and harmonic combinations that produce effects far harsh and dissonant, also often called upon to intervene, after a pause, without the aid of introductory normally entrusted to the instrumental parts to facilitate the pitch of the note. The band was given the task to accomplish, and suggest to the voices, the character of the individual songs that have different performance and expression, but which are linked together by recurring thematic fragments which, although hidden, impalpable generate reports that make the unique composition.
Tickets are on sale from Monday, October 29. Ticket prices: entrance only € 2.00.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Associazione Musicale “Staninslao Silesu” Samassi.
