The film is inspired by the story of Eluana, the girl from Lecco victim of a car accident in 1992 and remained in a vegetative state for 17 years, until natural death following discontinuation of artificial nutrition.
Everything takes place in various parts of Italy, in six days, the last of Eluana, whose story remains in the background. Fictional characters from different faiths and ideologies whose stories are connected emotionally to the story, in an existential reflection on the why of life and hope in spite of everything. A senator must choose whether to vote for a law that goes against his conscience or not to agree, in opposition to his party discipline, while her daughter Maria, an activist of the pro-life movement, manifested in front of the hospital where he is admitted Eluana. Roberto, with his brother, is deployed in the opposite secular front. An “enemy” of which Mary falls in love. Elsewhere, a great actress looks in the faith and in the miracle of the healing of her daughter for years in an irreversible coma, thus sacrificing the relationship with his son. Finally, the desperate Red who wants to die, but a young doctor named Pale opposed with all his strength to his suicide. And against all odds, at the end of the film, an awakening to life.
