La storia è presto scritta: Fresu invita a suonare i Sex Mob di Bernstein a Berchidda per il suo festival e si innamora di quel suono e di quella atmosfera. Petrella invita Fresu a suonare nella sua Cosmic Band e si diverte da morire. Bernstein conosce Petrella e comincia a dire in giro per il mondo che c’è finalmente in giro un vero e proprio genio che suona il trombone. I tre si incontrano per puro caso a Bolzano dove suonano in tre formazioni diverse in quel festival. Davanti ad una Wienerschnitzel e ad alcune birre nasce l’idea di un qualcosa che può essere “esplosivo” anche senza l’ausilio della ritmica tradizionale. Nasce così l’idea di montare un nuovo progetto “tutti fiati”. I tre accettano con trasporto ma il manager di Fresu non è contento. “Sì, vabbé… ma un bel suono basso chi ve lo da?” Bernstein ci mette poco a rispondere: “Rojas. Who else?” E’ fatta. Una piccola-grande band di fiati con grandi solisti tra poesia, humor, ritmi travolgenti e divertimento!

Un doppio tour importante per lo straordinario quartetto di soli fiati (Fresu e Bernstein alle trombe, Petrella al trombone e Rojas alla tuba) nei mesi di marzo e aprile con due vere chicche: due concerti dedicati solo al circuito “classico” in cui il quartetto sarà protagonista di un programma completamente dedicato alla musica barocca accanto alla voce di Cristina Zavalloni (il 19 marzo a Roma e il 24 marzo a L’Aquila). Il tour culminerà in aprile con la registrazione del disco del solo quartetto che verrà poi pubblicato in futuro. Non perdetevi questi concerti: si tratta di uno dei progetti più vivi e freschi degli ultimi anni. Chi li ha visti all’opera nel 2010 e poi a Umbria Jazz Winter se li ricorda come una delle cose più belle apparse recentemente sui palchi.

A double major tour for the extraordinary quartet of wind instruments (Fresu and Bernstein on trumpets, Petrella on trombone and tuba to Rojas) in the months of March and April with two real gems: two concerts dedicated to the circuit only “classic” in which the quartet will be featured in a program completely devoted to baroque music next to Cristina Zavalloni (March 19 to March 24 in Rome and L’Aquila).
