Alla Fondazione MACC le due mostre Verso Una Nuova Astrazione e Artista in Residenza, eventi che aprono  la nuova stagione espositiva del Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Calasetta, Isola di S.Antioco.

Verso Una Nuova Astrazione
‘Opere su carta’ presentate al Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Calasetta raccolte in una mostra incentrata sull’arte astratta europea che si sviluppa attraverso la selezione di opere provenienti dalla Collezione Ermanno Leinardi e integrate dai lavori di una nuova generazione di artisti.  La mostra, curata da Karina Joseph, esplora lo sviluppo dell’astrazione geometrica dal 1950 fino ai giorni nostri grazie ai recenti lavori di giovani artisti, la cui ricerca e prospettiva visiva è in linea con gli autori presenti nella collezione permanente.
Artisti contemporanei presentati: Alasdair Duncan, Robert Holyhead, Sara Mackillop e Giulia Ricci
Opere della Collezione permanente: Josef Albers, Carla Badiali, Nicola Carrino, Hugo Demarco, Lucio Fontana, Max Huber, Bice Lazzari, Ermanno Leinardi, Bruno Munari, Aurelie Nemours, Michel Seuphor, Atanasio Soldati e Luigi Veronesi.

Artista in Residenza
Dopo due mesi trascorsi al Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Calasetta, gli artisti Simon Mathers, Damian Griffiths e Marco Lampis hanno prodotto un originale corpo di lavoro in situ, trasformando il museo in un laboratorio per la sperimentazione e la produzione di nuove idee. Nel corso della Residenza, lo Studio d’Artista era accessibile al pubblico per esporre i processi mentali e il metodo di lavoro attuato da ogni artista nella produzione della propria opera. Gli Artisti sono stati chiamati a creare delle opere che si estendono oltre i confini del museo per raggiungere la comunità locale e formare con essa una nuova modalità di mutuo scambio. Questa mostra rappresenta il culmine del periodo di residenza ed è incentrata sul lavoro prodotto durante il soggiorno. Una serie di edizioni limitate dei lavori di ciascun artista sarà disponibile al museo per l’acquisto.

Simon Mathers (1984, UK) vive e lavora a Londra. Ha studiato Belle Arti al Goldmiths College e
nel 2010 ha conseguito il Master in Pittura al Royal College of Art. Tra le mostre personali: A-B,

Marco Lampis (1976, Italia), vive e lavora a Cagliari. Ha studiato Arti Visive all’Accademia di Belle
Arti di Bologna e all’UDK di Berlino. Ha partecipato a numerose mostre collettive, tra cui: Lontano
da dove, MACRO – Museo Arte Contemporanea Roma, (2012); Notturno, Unosolo Project Space,
Milano (2012); Biennale Giovani Artisti, Serrone, Monza (2011); Have a Look! Have a Look!, Form
Content, Londra (2010). Ha preso parte al Gasworks International Program Residency, Londra
(2008) ed è stato selezionato per il Premio MAN-GASWORKS, MAN, Nuoro, a cura di C.Collu,
A.Antoniolli, H.U.Obrist (2009).

Towards A New Abstraction
‘Works on Paper’ presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art Calasetta collected in a European exhibition focusing on abstract art that is developed through the selection of works from the Collection Ermanno Leinardi and supplemented by the work of a new generation of artists. The exhibition, curated by Karina Joseph, explores the development of geometric abstraction from the 1950s to the present day thanks to the recent works of young artists, whose research and visual perspective is in line with the authors in the permanent collection.

Artist in Residence
After two months spent at the Museum of Contemporary Art Calasetta, artists Simon Mathers, Damian Griffiths and Mark Lampis have produced an original body of work in situ, transforming the museum into a laboratory for the testing and production of new ideas. In the course of the Residence, the Artist’s Studio was accessible to the public to expose the thought processes and working methods implemented by each artist in the production of their work. Artists were invited to create works that extend beyond the boundaries of the museum to reach the local community and forming with it a new way of mutual exchange. This exhibition is the culmination of the period of residence and is centered on the work produced during your stay. A series of limited editions of the works of each artist will be available for purchase at the museum.
