Riparte con l’edizione 2013 Concordia Vocis. La manifestazione organizzata dal C.U.M. (Centro Universitario Musicale di Cagliari), diventata nel corso degli anni un punto di riferimento per gli appassionati del bel canto, per restare fedele alla sua natura itinerante prende il via, in questo scorcio di fine estate con la tournèe di tre date di una formazione che debutta in assoluto per la prima volta su palcoscenici sardi: i britannici “Apollo 5″

La band composta da cinque cantanti professionisti, taglia il nastro inaugurale del XXII Festival Internazionale di Musica Vocale Concordia Vocis con il concerto in programma domenica 1 settembre alle ore 21 tra le suggestive pareti della  Chiesa rinascimentale di Sant’Agostino a Cagliari (ingresso lato Largo Carlo Felice e/o Via Baylle).

Anno dopo anno, con il susseguirsi delle edizioni, la prima volta di “Concordia Vocis” risale al ’92  la manifestazione cresciuta nel grembo del Centro Universitario Musicale di Cagliari presieduto e diretto da Claudio Serra, si è ritagliata un ruolo di prestigio nel panorama musicale isolano e non solo, per qualità, spessore delle proposte e per aver ospitato sempre nuovi interpreti, in alcuni casi vere e proprie prime internazionali. Proprio gli importanti trascorsi della kermesse hanno dato un ulteriore spinta per proporre l’edizione numero 22 senza piegarsi  alle numerose difficoltà: quelle imposte dai drastici tagli ai finanziamenti alla cultura e dalla grossa crisi economica che attanaglia larghe fasce della società italiana.

Ma per lo staff organizzativo non si poteva disperdere il patrimonio culturale accumulato e abbandonare il suo appassionato pubblico, inoltre questo XXII viaggio nel mondo della musica corale, è nato con la particolare dedica ad una grande amica del Festival purtroppo scomparsa di recente, la Maestra Andrea O. Veneracion per anni alla guida della formazione “The Philippines Madrigral Singers”. Ed inoltre eleggendo come sede principale dei concerti nel capoluogo l’antica Chiesa di Sant’Agostino, decisione questa determinata dal desiderio di mettere sotto i riflettori e all’attenzione della cittadinanza, il grande patrimonio artistico di questo luogo di culto il cui recupero procede a rilento.

Per l’occasione del concerto nella monumentale  Chiesa di Sant’Agostino  in Via Baylle nello storico  quartiere della Marina, i cinque vocalist di “Apollo 5″ – formazione molto nota in Inghilterra sia per le notevoli capacità interpretative sia essere parte integrante della fondazione di beneficenza, Voces Cantabili Musica, che si propone di ispirare la creatività attraverso la musica.  Il gruppo inoltre è molto attivo nel Regno Unito nei centri del Red Balloon Learner, ente che si occupa del recupero dei bambini rimasti vittime di gravi atti di bullismo –  proporranno al pubblico cagliaritano un’ampia selezione che spazia dal jazz, retrò, pop, rinascimentale, classica, canti natalizi e della tradizione popolare inglese.

Dagli spartiti rinascimentali di Thomas Weelkes “Alleluia” e Thomas Tallis “If Ye Love Me” ai canti di ispirazione religiosa “Veni Domine Et Noli Tardare” di Francisco Guerrero e “Gaude Virgo Mater Christi ” del compositore Josquin des Prez, il repertorio proposto da “Apollo 5″ tocca anche le pagine intramontabili di “Come Sunday” e “Java Jive” di  Duke Ellington. Il viaggio musicale prosegue con gli spartiti contemporanei “My Soul, There Is A Country” di Charles Hubert e Hastings Parry, “Balm In Gilead” di  Wilfred Phillips e una serie di partiture composte appositamente per il quintetto a cappella formato nel 2010 in Inghilterra: “She Moved Through The Fair”  di  Daryl Runswick, “A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square” di  Manning Sherwin, “The Way You Look Tonight” del compositore Jerome Kern, “With A Song In My Heart” di  Richard Rogers “Beautiful” della musicista Linda Perry e inoltre “Stand By Me”di  Ben E. King, “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” di Don Raye & Hughie Prince.

Dopo l’esibizione nel capoluogo dell’isola, gli anglosassoni “Apollo 5″ si trasferiscono in Ogliastra. Per la seconda tappa del loro tour in Sardegna  saranno protagonisti con il medesimo repertorio, di una grande serata in programma lunedì 2 settembre alle ore 21 alla Cattedrale di Sant’Andrea a Tortolì.

Dall’accogliente città della costa orientale il quintetto “Apollo 5″ fa tappa nel Sulcis per l’ultimo concerto in programma martedì 3 settembre alle ore 21 al Teatro Electra di Iglesias.

Il rassegna è organizzata con la collaborazione dell’Assessorato della P.I.BB.CC. I e Spettacolo della Regione Sardegna, dei Comuni di Cagliari, Tortolì e Iglesias.

For the occasion of the concert in the monumental Church of Sant’Agostino in Via Baylle in the historic district of the Navy, the five vocalists of ” Apollo 5 ” – training in England is well known for the remarkable interpretive skills and be an integral part of the charitable foundation , Voces Cantabili Music, which aims to inspire creativity through music. After the performance in the island’s capital, the Anglo-Saxons “Apollo 5 ” move to Nuoro. For the second leg of their tour in Sardinia will be featured with the same repertoire , a great evening scheduled for Monday, September 2 at 21 at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Tortoli .

From the friendly town on the east coast of the quintet “Apollo 5 ” makes a stop in Sulcis for the last concert scheduled for Tuesday , September 3 at 21 hours at the Theatre of Electra Iglesias.
