Si svolgerà domenica 14 settembre 2014 l’Antico Sposalizio Selargino.

La rievocazione dell’antico Sposalizio selargino è una grande festa di folklore, ma nel suo significato più autentico è un ritorno nel passato delle tradizioni della Sardegna. A Selargius rivivono per un giorno lo sfarzo e i colori delle cerimonie nuziali del Campidano in quello stesso scenario che, per la prosperità contadina e mercantizia, fu sempre teatro di esaltanti manifestazioni di vita e di popolo. Si rivedono, come in una toccante sequenza filmica, quei momenti e gesti del matrimonio, codificati dalla memoria storica, che furono espressione di una cultura permeata di profonda sacralità e dello spirito di una comunità che visse sempre, come fatto proprio, ogni accadimento della vita dei singoli individui. Questo coinvolgimento di tutto un paese e questo senso della coralità, sono i segni che più immediatamente vengono colti dallo spettatore che assiste alle varie fasi in cui si volge lo Sposalizio Selargino. Il momento iniziale è la “benedizione” dello sposo e della sposa, che avviene contemporaneamente sul limitare delle rispettive case natie, innanzi alla folla di parenti e vicini di casa. Qui i padri e le madri, a turno, aspergono di manciate di grano e sale i capi dei propri figli inginocchiati, ed esprimono con formule di antica sapienza, gli auguri di prosperità e di conoscenza delle virtù morali; poi baciandoli prima che lascino per sempre il tetto paterno, rivolgono loro gli ultimi ammonimenti. Nella seconda fase i cortei dei due, per un pò ancora “bagadius” e quindi non sposati, si muovono per incontrarsi sul sagrato della chiesa madre. Durante questa lunga e gioiosa sfilata per le vie del paese i fidanzati, a braccio dei padri, ricevono gli auguri dei compaesani; talune popolane tenendo in mano un piatto di sale e grano, ripetono le formule di benedizione, indirizzano loro nuovi voti e consigli e infine, tra gli applausi degli astanti, rompono sul selciato il piatto, ripetendo così un remotissimo rito magico per propiziare la fortuna a chi si appresta a formare una nuova famiglia. Unitisi sul sagrato, i cortei fanno il loro ingresso nella chiesa, accolti dalle musiche solenni degli organi e delle “launeddas”. Qui secondo il rito di Santa Romana Chiesa, in lingua sarda, come nella tradizione degli avi, si celebra il matrimonio, legando gli sposi per la catena nuziale, “sa cadena”, simbolo del vincolo perpetuo instaurato dal sacramento.

Ormai divenuti coniugi, “cojaus”, i protagonisti della grande festa, irrompono nuovamente sul piazzale della chiesa, accolti dal fragore degli applausi e dalle urla del popolo in costume. Accompagnati dal celebrante, fanno ingresso nella vicina chiesetta medioevale di San Giuliano, per vergare una “promessa” d’amore innanzi alle autorità del paese e ai Confratelli del Rosario, i quali la custodiranno in un’artistica teca per un quarto di secolo. Si dirigono quindi verso la loro nuova casa, accolti dalle due madri che, sole e silenziose, avevano qui atteso il rientro dei propri figli per impartire loro l’ultima commovente benedizione e dare l’addio, “s’adiosu”, ai frutti del loro talamo, da cui germoglieranno altre vite. “Potzàis bivi medas annus cun saludi e trigu” (possiate vivere tanti anni in buone salute e abbondanza).

Questo augurio finale, pronunciato dalla folla che si disperde, da’ il via all’ultimo atto dello Sposalizio: il banchetto con gli invitati e le danze fino a tarda notte.

The re-enactment of the ancient Selargino Marriage is a great celebration of folklore, but in its true meaning is a return to the past traditions of Sardinia. A Selangor revived for one day the pomp and color of weddings Campidano in that same scenario, for the prosperity of the peasant and mercantizia, it was always exciting theater events of life and people. Reviewing, as in a touching film sequence, those moments and gestures of marriage, encoded by the historical memory, which were an expression of a culture permeated with deep sanctity and spirit of a community that lived forever, just as we did, every event of life of individuals. This involvement of the whole country, and this sense of unanimity, are signs that more are caught immediately by the audience attending the various stages in which turns the Marriage Selargino. The starting point is the “blessing” of the bride and groom, which takes place at the same time on the edge of their native homes, before the crowd of relatives and neighbors. Here, the fathers and mothers, in turn, sprinkle handfuls of grain and salt the heads of their children on their knees, and they express formulas of ancient wisdom, the good wishes of prosperity and knowledge of the moral virtues; then kissing them before they leave forever the paternal roof, turning their last warnings. In the second phase of the two processions, for a while yet “bagadius” and then not married, they move to meet the churchyard mother. During this long and joyful parade through the streets of the country boyfriends, fathers arm to receive the good wishes of the villagers; certain commoners holding a plate of salt and grain, repeat the formulas of blessing, directing their new grades and recommendations and finally, to the applause of onlookers on the pavement break the pot, thus repeating a very remote magic ritual to propitiate the good fortune to those who are preparing to form a new family. Who joined in the churchyard, processions make their entrance into the church, welcomed by solemn music of organs and “Launeddas.” Here, according to the rite of the Roman Catholic Church, in the Sardinian language, as in the tradition of their ancestors, the marriage takes place, tying the bride and groom to the bridal chain, “sa cadena”, a symbol of perpetual bond established by the sacrament.

Now become husband and wife, “cojaus”, the protagonists of the great feast, burst back on the church square, greeted by the sound of applause and the screams of the people in costume. Accompanied by the celebrant, make entry in the nearby medieval church of San Giuliano, penned by a “promise” of love before the authorities of the country and the confreres of the Rosary, which will guard the shrine in an artistic for a quarter of a century. We then headed to their new home, greeted by the two mothers, sun and quiet, here they awaited the return of their children to give them the ultimate blessing and touching to say goodbye, “s’adiosu,” the fruits of their thalamus, from which sprout other lives. “Potzàis junctions medas annus cun and trigu salud” (you can live many years in good health and abundance).

This final wish, uttered by the crowd disperses, from ‘off the last act of the Wedding: the banquet with the guests and dancing late into the night.
