Biografia:
Poliedrico artista, armonicista, cantante, chitarrista, ma anche attore, testimonial pubblicitario, scrittore e anche pittore, Andy J Forest è sulle scene musicali dal 1977.
Classe 1955, Andy non è solo un virtuoso dell’armonica; la stoffa del bluesman autentico emerge infatti nei dischi a suo nome, disseminati nell’arco di un ventennio: da The list nel 1980 a Real Stories nel 2007. Una discografia che testimonia bene la crescita di questo musicista che alla formidabile tecnica strumentale unisce grandi capacita espressive, ironia, comunicativa e un carattere esplosivo: doti che colte dal vivo rendono ogni suo concerto un evento da ricordare. Dopo il successo con “Real Stories: of Love Labor and Other Man Made Catastrophes” con il quale vince il premio come “Best Blues Cd 2007” al “the Best of the Beat” Award di New Orleans, seguito da NOtown Story: The Triumph of Turmoil (2010), che, definito uno dei suoi migliori progetti, è unÂ’album dove Andy riesce a simulare al meglio le emozioni che si possono catturare solo con un concerto dal vivo, grazie anche al trio che lo accompagna composto dal chitarrista Jack Cole, il batterista Allyn Robinson e il bassista David Hyde; nel 2012 arriva, Other rooms che, nominato ai Best of the Beat Awards 2012 come “Best Blues Album”, aggiunge un nuovo capitolo al portfolio di Andy che si è costruito, sobriamente, in uno dei più suggestivi cataloghi di compositori di New Orleans. Una cosa da ricordare riguardo alla carriera di Forest è che aderisce fedelmente al formato blues trovando, allÂ’interno di esso, il modo di crescere musicalmente. Molti artisti blues descrivono intensamente dei piccoli circuiti allÂ’interno di esso rimanendo però sempre nello stesso punto durante la loro carriera ma Forest continua a spingere la sua struttura nel funk, R&B tradizionale e swing per soddisfare il suo esteso lavoro lirico. Ha maturato durante gli anni sia le sue qualità vocali che di armonicista, ridimensionando alcune delle sue eccentricità sia come musicista che come contenuto melodico delle sue canzoni. Apprendendo le prime lezioni di armonica ancora ragazzo, influenzato da Sonny Terry, Walter Horton, Charlie Musselwhite e Rod Piazza inizia a suonare nel circuito di New Orleans nei primi anni ‘70, esibendosi con James Booker, Earl King, John Mooney, Antonie Domino, Billy Gregory e altri musicisti locali con i quali da vita ai “Radiators and the Subdudes” dimostrando uno stile unico fin dagli inizio.
Le sue esibizioni dal vivo, molte delle quali ad importanti festivals, gli danno l’oppurtunità di aprire i concerti per B.B. King, Albert King, Albert Collins, Canned Heat, Magic Slim, Robert Cray, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy & Jr. Wells, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, J. Geils & Magic Dick, Terrance Simieon, Otis Grand, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Johnny Copeland, Roy Rogers, John Hammond, Melvin Taylor, Duke Robillard e Johnny Winter.
Dopo aver vissuto in Europa per ben 10 anni ritorna a New Orleans nel 1991 dove suona frequentemente in numerosi clubs e partecipa a tour europei e canadesi esibendosi con grandi nomi quali Taj Mahal, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Matt Murphy, James Cotton, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Jimmy Johnson, Sugar Blue, Willy DeVille, Louis Meyers, Johnny Heartsman, Bernard Allison, The Memphis Horns, Johnny Shines and John “Juke” Logan. Conta anche presenze ad importanti festivals quali Montreaux Jazz Festival nel 1989 dove si esibisce per una jam con B.B. King, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Joan Baez (!) e Luther Allison e al Pistoia Blues Festival con Jeff Healy sempre nello stesso anno, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival per ben una dozzina di volte dal 1983, al King Biscuit Festival, Trois Rivieres, Ottawa Blues Festival, Cognac Blues Passions, Antwerpe Parkblues Festival, Amsterdam Blues Festival, Tamines, Beermem Blues Festival, More Blues Festival, Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival, Lokerse Feesten, San Remo, Nantes- Rendezvous dans l’Erdre, Lugano Blues to Bop ‘94, ‘96 & 2000, Sherbrooke Blues Festival, Windsor International Festival, Montremblant and molti altri.
Andy è anche compositore, scrittore e un bluesman autentico, ha scritto numerose canzoni, una novella “Letter from Hell”, e ha disseminato nellÂ’arco di venticinque anni numerosi dischi. Dal popolare successo di “Sunday Rhumba” (2001) e “Deep Down Under (in the Bywater)” (2003) prodotto da Anders Osborne e registrato all’Appaloosa Records, arriva, nel 2006, “Real Stories” realizzato interamente in America con il trio italiano e prodotto sempre da Anders Osborne fino ad arrivare allÂ’ultimo lavoro “Other rooms” (2012). Continuando la sua intensa attività live musicale con Washboard Chaz Blues Trio, la sua band americana e in Canada con la famosa band Monkey Junk, Andy riesce anche a intraprendere tours in Europa con la band italiana composto da Leonardo Ghiringhelli, Luca Tonani e Roberto Panzeri con la quale si presenterà anche questÂ’anno in Italia “On the road” da diversi anni e affiatatissimi tanto da potersi esibire in qualsiasi contesto, sicuramente riusciranno a coinvolgere anche il pubblico più difficile ed esigente, ogni concerto è una riprova della loro bravura.

Biography:
Multifaceted artist, harmonica player, singer, guitarist, but also an actor, testimonial advertising, writer and also painter, Andy J Forest is the music scene since 1977.
Born in 1955, Andy is not only a virtuoso, the makings of a true bluesman it emerges in the discs to his name, scattered over twenty years: The list from 1980 in Real Stories in 2007. A discography that shows good growth of this musician that the formidable instrumental technique combines large capacity of expression, humor, communicative and an explosive character: qualities that caught live make every concert an event to remember. After the success with? Real Stories: of Love Labor and Other Man Made Catastrophes? which won the award? ‘Best Blues CD 2007?? the Â¥ the Best of the Beat? Award of New Orleans, followed by Notown Story: The Triumph of Turmoil (2010), who called one of his best projects, it is a? Album where Andy can simulate the most of the emotions that can be captured only with a concert by the alive, thanks to the trio that accompanies composed by guitarist Jack Cole, drummer Allyn Robinson and bassist David Hyde, in 2012 arrives, Other rooms that nominated for Best of the Beat Awards 2012 how? ‘Best Blues Album?, adds a new chapter to the portfolio of Andy who has built, soberly, in one of the most impressive catalogs of composers of New Orleans. After living in Europe for 10 years returned to New Orleans in 1991 where he played in many clubs and frequently participates in European and Canadian tour performing with big names such as Taj Mahal, Screamin? Andy is also a composer, writer, and an authentic bluesman, he wrote many songs, a novella? Letter from Hell?, And sowed in? Span of twenty-five years, numerous discs. From the popular success? Sunday Rhumba? (2001) and Â¥ Deep Down Under (in the Bywater)? (2003) produced by Anders Osborne and recorded all’Appaloosa Records, arrives in 2006? Real Stories? made entirely in America with Italian trio and also produced by Anders Osborne until you get to? last job? Other rooms? (2012). Continuing his intense live music with Washboard Chaz Blues Trio, his American band and in Canada with the famous band Monkey Junk, Andy also manages to embark on tours in Europe with the Italian band composed by Leonardo Ghiringhelli, Luca and Roberto Panzeri with Tonani which will be presented again this? year in Italy? On the road? for several years and so as to be able to perform extremely well together in any context, certainly able to involve even the most difficult and demanding, every concert is a proof of their skill.
