La trama
Al ritorno in patria Amleto, principe di Danimarca (studente all’università di Wittemberg) trova sul trono del padre defunto lo zio Claudio e la madre vedova sposata con il cognato, ma strani indizi, o sintomi avvertono che “c’è del marcio in Danimarca”. Sulle torri del castello è apparso il fantasma del vecchio re e informatone dall’amico Orazio, Amleto incontra lo spettro del padre, apprendendo da lui la truce storia del tradimento e l’assassinio da parte del fratello, che ora ne porta la corona; e la passione e le nozze incestuose di questi con la regina. Nascono propositi di vendetta, ma anche atroci dubbi tra il subire e l’agire che si tradurranno nella (dis)simulata lucida follia di Amleto, con provocazioni pungenti alla madre e allo zio, fino alla pazzia dell’antica fidanzata Ofelia, figlia di Polonio, ferita dall’indifferenza del principe e dalla fine del padre, ucciso per sbaglio (al posto di Claudio). Intrighi e nuovi lutti culmineranno nel duello finale tra Amleto e Laerte (fratello di Ofelia), quasi un festino di morte di cui Orazio è unico superstite e testimone, tra i suoni di guerra e l’arrivo del vincitore Fortebraccio…

The plot
Upon returning home Hamlet, Prince of Denmark (student at the University of Wittenberg) is on the throne of his late father’s uncle Claudius and his widowed mother married her brother, but strange clues, or signs warn that “there is something rotten in Denmark. ” The castle towers appeared the ghost of the old king and by his informatone Orazio, Hamlet meets the ghost of his father, learning from him the grim story of betrayal and murder by his brother, who now bears the crown, and the passion and the incestuous marriage of these with the queen. Born of revenge, but also terrible doubts between the subject and the action that will result in the (dis) simulated lucid madness of Hamlet, with provocations biting his mother and uncle, until the madness of the old girlfriend Ophelia, daughter of Polonius , wounded by the indifference of the prince and the end of his father, who was killed by mistake (instead of Claudio). Intrigues and new grief will culminate in a final duel between Hamlet and Laertes (Ophelia’s brother), almost a feast of death that Horace is the sole survivor and witness, between the sounds of war and the arrival of Fortinbras winner …
