Il Carnevale qui è molto speciale: ogni anno 12 “Mamuthones”
circondati da 8 “Issohadores” ripetono l’antica danza millenaria quasi
a voler risvegliare lontani riti. Il 17 gennaio con “la prima uscita
dei “Mamuthones” che raggiungono a passo di danza i fuochi e ci girano
intorno per tre volte si da avvio al Carnevale.
Assistere oggi a questo Carnevale è un’esperienza unica…il viaggiatore
rimane senza parole di fronte al ritmo lento e cadenzato delle
maschere.
L’emozione che suscitano a chi li segue per la prima volta
difficilmente si riesce a descriverla.

Carnival here is very special: every year 12 “Mamuthones”
surrounded by 8 “Issohadores” repeated the old dance almost millenarian
wanting to awaken distant rituals. On January 17, with “the first exit
of “Mamuthones” reaching a dance step and the fires we run
around for three times to start the Carnival.
Attending today in this Carnival is a unique experience … the traveler
left speechless in front of the slow pace and cadence of
masks.
The emotion they arouse those who follow them for the first time
it is difficult to describe.
