MEETINGS 2012 – Throw something there

The exhibition “MEETINGS”, created nel’92 Theatre Alkestis laboratory and in the latest editions made in conjunction with the company of art CIRCUS CALUMET, is twenty years old. To celebrate this important event, we have decided to organize a program is not self-referential, but in contact with the surrounding environment and the currency, which is able to cross and transcend the specific contents of the theatrical and lean on topics of wider interest and involvement.

In continuity with the previous editions that have paid tribute to the great figures of the theater as Antonin Artaud, Fernando Arrabal, Samuel Beckett, Alejandro Jodorowski, 2012 Meetings will be entirely dedicated to the ideas and work of Giorgio Gaber and Sandro Luporini. The show also makes use of the fundamental collaboration and participation of the Fondazione Giorgio Gaber, which was formed in 2006 with the aim to disseminate and develop, particularly among young people, the figure and work of the Italian artist who died on 1 January 2003.

The meeting “unpredictable” with the world of Mr. G. embodies the spirit of celebration of this twentieth edition, as it was “a real and living thing” that still speaks to us and that does not stop us to think, and we inspired by a song of the same Gaber, we face the “twenty years of dating” with the logic of the “throw something there” (and go away), with a participatory impetus which contains in itself a strong desire to belong to our city and its inhabitants.

The main purpose of “Meetings 2012″ is to analyze and disseminate from different points of view, thought and play by Giorgio Gaber and Sandro Luporini: through meetings, performances, exhibitions, screenings and testimonies will attempt to locate the origins , the “mission” and the relevance of their artistic career, to ask how the interpreters and contemporary authors can provide continuity and development so that part of understanding and theater. The city of Cagliari, who never have hosted Mr. G. with its shows, through the exhibition “Meeting 2012″ will have an opportunity to know more about the art of theater and celebrate alongside the Fondazione Giorgio Gaber the tenth anniversary of his death.
